Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are:
I have a 2009 328xi with 86k Miles. Rear shocks are leaking so I am going to replace all four corners plus wear components.
I am deciding between bilstein B4 with stock springs or
Making the investment to get eibach pro from Europe paired with KONI yellows.

The price difference is about $500.
Plus links $160 front and $160 rear.
Plus alignment $130

The car is a DD and I am planning on keeping another 3-4 years and probably passing to my son who will be in college. I only drive around 10k miles per year. Mostly in a snowy New England town with shit roads.

Other mitigating facts I need to replace the oil pan gasket and rear brakes. I have a clicking right front CV joint. I don’t have time to do this all myself so it’s going to cost.

I own the same car and live in a sometimes snowy Ohio town with shit roads. My recommendation is to keep the ride height stock if it's a daily driver. Better clearance for snow, pot holes, gravel etc. I am personally tempted to install the new Koni Special Active shocks and struts on my stock springs. It is time for new front struts on my car and even though my rears only have around 5k miles on them, I'd prefer to install a matching set.

where at? I'm in northern ohio.


I wouldn't dream of lowering my junk if I drove it daily. Its difficult enough as is to not scrape my bumper on stuff.

if it wasn't something I drove everyday, I'd slam it.

If you are happy with the handling and looks of the car with the current suspension set-up then I would go with Bilstein B4's or Koni Special Active (formerly FSD) dampers. I would lean towards the Koni's personally if keeping the stock springs.

Sorry to hear about your oil pan gasket leaking. I just went through this on my car and it was a huge project. The good news is that the CV will be easy to replace during this work since it must come out anyway.

I live in Michigan and daily drive my car. I would vote for Koni Yellow and either Eibach or Dinan springs. Never had an issue with clearance getting me stuck anywhere, its not a large drop - puts you into stock RWD ride height rather than a slammed car.
