I have a hand vacuum, but mostly prefer to use my MUCH more powerful shop vac. Weekly, not daily.

Airvac makes a good product. Just position it in the garage near your car when you install the central vac.

Sorry, I'm in the market for a new central vac. My old Airvac needs replacing.

Not sure where I would mount this.... Maybe in the trunk? Passenger seat? Maybe I could use the car pool lane if I put a hat on it and put it in the passenger seat!

Jeez I crack myself up

not a handheld but somewhat portable, i use the small ridgid 4 gallon shop vac from homedepot that all the pros from autopia seem to swear by. i actually enjoy seeing/feeling the vac in action more than the results it gives me. makes me feel like tim "the toolman" taylor

The Rigid and the Metro Vac 'n Blo seem to be the more popular vacuum options amongst detailers. The Vac 'n Blo is nice as it doubles up as a blower, has a ton of power, and lots of small attachments perfect for detailers to get in every nook and cranny.

If anyone has any questions on this unit let me know.

I didn't want to spend big bucks on a vacuum since I don't detail for a living so I bought this one:

The Craftsman Clean N Carry® 4 gal. Wet-Dry Vac, 5.0 Peak hp is very strong, portable, light, and has the wet-dry capability. I also enjoy the craftsman warranty and being able to buy it at a B&M store.

Why portable? Will you keep it in your trunk? Do you have a garage?

not sure how portable you're looking for, but I have the RIGID toolbox looking vac. It's awesome for the car, 5hp and is all self contained in a pack that looks like a tool box. I highly recommend it.

also if you decide to get the ridgid, i highly recommend also getting the optional orange pro hose. the black hose that comes with the vac is almost unusable.

I use a shop vac for major cleaning. Try one of those keyboard ones

agreed, it doesn't give much room to stretch out, I might need to get that hose myself, didn't know they made one. Great quality vac though.
