Haha where are you located there isn't much around me
South Florida this is the LKQ at Ft Lauderdale. They have quite a few bmws but they're usually stuff that isn't too desirable so you have to find the gems.

I had never realized how tiny the stock turbos on the N54 are. They look like toys. I found this one hanging off the engine while I was there at the yard. Finger in glove next to it for comparison

Need to find a dme to clone for my N55 I shorted my secondary 02 and now stuck with a code and can't pass inspection and everyone online wants a lot of money. Hoping to find one at a junk yard to be able to pay a fraction of the cost

Good luck. There was a 328 at my "local" yard and they wanted $20 for a headlight pcb from a smashed headlight with no Guarantee of function. I reached in there and pulled it out (that's how messed up the headlight was). The thing that sucked is I could have done that while it was at the auto body shop. And not had to drive 25 minutes each way and pay $20. They Never would have known it was gone.

My point being is they will just look online and gouge you more than likely.

Rarely will you see an N55 car here. It's all junky n54 535s, good luck with that. I had a similar issue and it turned out to be just wiring related which had gotten caught between the intake manifold and the cylinder head

Yeah that's how a lot of junkyards are. Those beautiful "small yards" that everyone wants to protect because they're local to them. They're full of crap. I pretty much don't go anywhere other than LKQs. At lkq the price is set on the website for every part and you know before you go in the yard. And the great thing is a part costs the same whether it's for a Toyota or a BMW. Waste of time to go to the small guy always trying to milk you for once. I think the headlights for all cars here are about 40 a piece. Could have taken one off the 330i I posted with board and all surely, more than a board by itself but you get a headlight too to play with lol

I have mixed emotions about the small yards vs lkq. It's like Walmart vs any small business. I'd rather support the small business but when I can get the same thing for 1/2 the price...

But then because of less business they increase prices to stay afloat. Their saving grace has to be customer service. So for the yard to be a pain in the ass and then be like "good luck," it's like signing your own death warrant.

I like to try and support smaller businesses because to be fair LKQ has a massive monopoly at least here on junkyard parts. But most smaller yards are so far behind in time that you can't even find them online or even know what cars are in the place without going there in person... I think they're shooting themselves in the foot by having super high parts prices and no warranty when you can buy on ebay for the same and have a warranty.

I'd rather get treated like shit by a junkyard employee when I'm paying 10 bucks for a part than when I'm paying 80 for it.

^True

I don't understand how they don't have online inventory half the time. At this point not having an online presence, may as well close the doors

I find it weird that even happened. We blew a few o2 sensor fuses when this issue came up but no dme damage. That's kind of what the fuse is there to do to protect

Thanks. It suck because there's a lot more scrap, a lot slower, and some ridiculous cuts!

I started making templates for the real stupid ones...
