Car bricked with key locked in fob, Pressed down on Pwr Dst Box fixed it. Thoughts?
I went to start my car and it completely bricked with the key locked in the fob and zero power. I checked out my fuse box and negative battery connections next to them as well as negative wiring in engine bay and nothing. I then just pressed down lightly on my power distribution box and everything came back on and has been working fine since. I checked and the connections points on the battery are all properly torqued. Also only error codes are the ones that happen when ever the power supply from the battery is disrupted
I am planning on replacing my negative battery connection and power distribution box. My question is has anyone else had this problem before? Is there anything I am missing that I should be looking for? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. |

Sounds like a dry solder joint, perhaps. Might be more common as these cars age. I personally haven’t had this issue on my E90, but my ’91 E31 has had just about every module rebuilt or replaced due to either capacitors failing from age or dry solder joints…
If you’re already buying a new distribution box, I’d be curious to see what the old one looks like. |
