E90 adaptive headlights - low beams pointing down
I only able to see 15 to 20 yards front of the car.
1) Adjusted up/down screw to max, but marginal. 2) Inspected levelling motors, balls are in sockets. Anything else that I need to adjust to raise the low beams up. I've been driving using high beams lately. Thanks, |

Any faults related to ride height/levelling sensors?
If the car detects a problem with them it will automatically aim both headlights down to avoid blinding other drivers.

Read codes with scantool, only one code related to valvetronic servo motor and did not see anything related to headlights. Recently, I worked on suspension and did remove the front ride height sensor. I'll take a look to make sure it mounted properly. Thanks,

Have you checked to make sure the bulbs are seated correctly? The last several times I've seen this kind of issue on cars of all types, the bulb installation was botched.

Possible the plug isn’t seated all the way, but I’d expect to see a code if that was the case.

Does your country not have a forced yearly check / fix for safety things?
We have to go to the "apk" here every year, they check all safety things, adjust your headlights if needed etc. |

Few states require yearly emissions check for renewing the license plate. That's all.

There could be an issue with the ride height sensors on suspension. There is 1 in front and 1 in rear that detect the suspension level to be able to adjust the headlights. It is possible that the load sensor may be in a bad state/broken or something else going on with it.
On my 335i because its so low I've had the front sensor "invert" in the wrong direction and I had to go in there and manually move it down. |

Where I live people can get away with driving riced-out shitboxes with no mufflers and blue brake lights. I wouldn’t say it’s so much that cars fall apart without the owners knowing. They know; they just don’t care…

Update: Got it fixed!
Front ride height sensor was bad, but it did not set code. I can see now and the lights do not bounce up and down like before. Thank you all, |

I sometimes notice my headlights bouncing up and down and I figured there was no way the sensor sent signal that fast but have ignored it. Maybe my sensor is bad too. |

Depends on the state, mine does variety of safety checks but not nearly as stringent as TUV or MOT, was glad my Jalopies did not have to pass either of those when I lived in EU. |
