First of all this is a work in progress and i will add all numbers when i get time.

All parts listed are for e90/e91 parts for e92/93 vary.

I have written this to help others, as many people have helped me and i have done alot of research to get his information.

This is done for my car, which is a e91 2007 with no headlight wash, no auto wipers and no auto lights and basic halogen pre lci lights, so if you have more spec on your car, the loom you chose will be different from mine, however, i will add the different numbers in time too..

I have assumed certian items will need no part numbers as its obvious, for example, what a xenon headlight looks like and i doubt anyone will be buying a new set!

Right here goes:

1. Headlights bare or including bulbs( any d1s bulb from ebay or motor factors will do, unless you wish to spec your colour temperature) also if you want led marker AE's, its time to get them too.
Ballasts, again, can be had from ebay, or from bmw, but be prepare for £160 from bmw. Part number to follow.

2. Wiring Harness- this is for the headlights itself and the level sensors, this is car spec dependant and for my car with no auto wipers or lights is:
63130399704

3. Front level sender- 37146785207
Rear level sender- 37146785207

You will also need appropriate brackets, These can be purchased from bmw direct, front and rear are different, however you cant buy the sensors from bmw anymore so they will be a breakers or ebay job, so they may come with the brackets.

Front brackets- To Follow
Rear brackets- To Follow

4. FRM2 footwell module- This is the minimum needed to run xenons, this needs to be coded to suit the car for your spec and whether you want DRLs, Auto lights and swithcing on the xenons/bi-xenons.
The best man for the job is Sam (Makkan on the forum)

Thats it for the headlights working, Now for the washer jets.

1. Spray Nozzels- Left- 61677179311
Right- 61677179311

2. Spay nozzel Covers- Left- 61678031307
Right- 61678031308

3. Wash Pump- 67128377430

4. Wash bottle- 61667238666

5. Wash Nozzle hose and clips/clamps - Hose- 61677117844
Clips - 07147151388

6. Short section of loom for headlight wash pump. From bmw, part number is not readily available as it is included as a full fitting kit, however, it can be purchased seperately as i have done and the part number is:


7. Headlight wash fuse a relay for fuse box inside the car. Relay- 61316919113

The apropriate coding for the headlight wash system..Again Sam (Makkan) is best for this..

Hope this helps some people and will fill this in when i get all part number, i now have all items apart from the FRM2 myself so i can find part numbers.

Good effort. Worth of mentioning that most of the parts are for E90/1.
E92/3 parts may differ and at least Wash Nozzle hose and clips/clamps are different for those cars.
And E92/3 comes with Xenons only

I'm in two minds about doing this retro fit, how will I know if my car already has this frm2 module?

My car is a LCI, has anyone done a retro fit to a LCI? or can it even be done!

Do you have auto lights and auto wipers? And your lights turn on when you open car?

If so, you have frm2

No it doesn't have either!! so does this mean I will need a new module as well? Is this module only for the lights?
The car has Pro nav if that makes any difference?

I have just been on real oem and now Im really confused it says I have the frm2 module. It looks like the retrofit on a lci e90 is a bit more involved. if I decide to go ahead with it I think it might be wise to call and see Peter van der veer in Huddersfield and let him have a look at my car and see what he thinks.

It's a separate module For lights, wipers and mirrors is my understanding..

Has no direct relation to nav

You'll have FRM2 or FRM3.
You will have basic FRM and will require xenon FRM for the retrofit.

Simple FRM can be coded for xenon (as I have done it) but its not recommended. As if your car goes to the dealer and they update the module, you will loose all your coding.

FRM requires coding for xenon.
Junction box requires coding for the headlight washer.

Alex, that is one of the most informative posts I can find about retrofitting oem xenon lights to a pre lci E9x, thanks

I'm gathering the necessary parts together for the conversion. I have a new light switch control as my old one has the height adjusting wheel. The headlights are here which both include bulbs and ballasts. I have got one height level sensor off ebay and am sourcing another. My car being a 2008 already has the FRM2 footwell module.

My main problem appears to be getting hold of the wiring loom for the sensors/lights. Cotswold BMW are being less than helpful in telling me that the retrofit kit is only for LHD vehicles. BMW Cooper parts - when putting in 63130399704 gives a price over £1.5k which must include lights.

Do you have a part number for the loom/connectors itself? How did you go about sourcing that part?

Here comes the bad news...

Since Writing this thread, bmw have discontinued all xenon headlight retrofit wiring looms for the e9x platform!

The part number has no become a full retrofit kit, including headlights etc etc which is why it is around the £1700 mark!

It does include both looms in this kit, however, bmw will not sell it separately!

You may be able to convince a friendly main dealer to order the whole kit in and have the loom but it's unlikely!

Yeah I did think this myself, I'm sure the rear level sensor wiring would be an easy removal but the headlight and front loom possibly abit harder!

Still might be worth looking into it!

Bugger! I've been looking on various sites on what folk do and have been gathering what information I can and sorting out the wheat from the chaff.

The main bit of wiring I'd need would be for the front & rear level sensors and finding out which pins connect to what on the FRM.

I'm fairly confident that I can manage to sort out the headlights well enough. From what I've found I need to bridge pins 2 and 4 of the headlight to earth the ballast. Some suggest swapping/tapping pins 5 and 6 for the bi-xenon feature. I've heard that it's 'only' an extra wire to run to the FRM.

One question, I understand that the main beam on the bi-xenon headlights is the xenon beam with the shutter open? What is the halogen beam used for, is that for 'flash-to-pass'?

Alex, if/when you've finished your loom could you send me the schematic please?

how much do you pay for bulbs?

I just bought a bulb for my 330-sport and was quoted £70 trade by moy local factor and more by Eurocar parts (for an Osram bulb).

Sounds about the going rate to me!

Not cheap parts, be wary there has been a batch of dodgy counterfeit bulbs with osram branding on!

Right,

Getting there slowly.

1. I've bridged pins 2 and 4 in each headlight. I've also been to a scrappy (who didn't give me free reign) and got a headlight connector complete with pins. I'm hoping to extract the appropriate pins to use for the bi xenon shutter wire.

2. My LED bulbs have arrived for the angel eyes although the seller sent the wrong ones the only difference is an extra lip with screwhole on the sides.

3. I have ordered a few bits (mainly brackets) from coopers but they have gone on to backorder. I did read above that those parts are not available anymore but they were still listed so hopefully I can get them that way. If not then it looks like more trips to the scrappy.

4. I have found the correct pins to use for the level sensors and the bi xenon wire in the footwell module.

Alex, when you got your wiring harness, did it plug into empty holes on the footwell module or did you have to splice existing wires? I haven't checked my module yet to see if there are wires occupying the necessary pins. If there aren't existing wires then it looks like I'll be making my own loom at this rate!
