Best brake upgrade under $1000

I have a 2010 335xi. Due for rotors and pads soon but don’t want to go OEM. Hoping to upgrade my brakes for less than $1000.

I’ve seen various brake upgrade kits across FCP Euro, ECS etc.

All the same? Any products that stand out? Looking to upgrade but not go into the thousands with Brembo etc.

Are the 335i R1 calipers a two-piston design upgrade over the single piston OEM calipers?

This is what R1 displays as a 335i caliper, are they just displaying a random stock image?

Yeah, that’s bc the OE stuff is incredibly good at almost everything with the exception of track days. Buying almost anything else will result in a compromise of some sort.

I’d recommend rotors from Rockauto (centric premium) and OE BMW 2009-2012 pads. These rotors will resist rusting better (looks) and the pads will dust less and have better feel than the earlier BMW units.

You can also do all of this for like $350 in parts.

The calipers we have to offer are OEM spec. The caliper in that picture is just a generic caliper. These are 100% brand new and not re-built or re-manufactured. These are coated in silver to prevent it from rusting.

Yes and no.. Race pads are known to squeal quite a bit. More metal in the pads = more squeal. I will be honest and say mine did go away after a bit of use though on my BBK. So, maybe you'd experience the same?

I would get F30 OEM Brembo 4 pots around $300 for the fronts and paint it whatever color you want then get Centric dimpled & slotted disc + whatever pads you want. It would still be under $900

I have EBC yellow pads for my 328i, great pads, even during winter.

Not dumb unless you're unhappy with performance.

~$500 all paws pads, rotors, sensors; brake fluid, delivered to my door. Turner, online.

EZ job and no new calipers needed.

Oem all the way. Slotted and drilled rotors reduce the contact area between pad and rotor. Contact creates friction and friction stops the car. Oem brakes will take a beating that many aftermarket parts just cannot survive. The exception to this is a big brake upgrade such as the f30 4piston setup. If you plan on staying with the stock caliper and rotor size, good luck with finding something as good for the same price or less than oem.

Maybe check out 88 rotors
I got their black series drilled and slotted rotors from all 4 corners, plus stoptech street pads for under $400, then some motul 600 fluid from amazon for $30 and finally stoptech stainless steel lines for $130 at ecs

I ended up going with the drilled and slotted rotors from R1 concepts with ceramic pads. So far so good. A little squealing in the beginning but that is normal according to the R1 guys. Only 50 miles in but good so far. The drilled and slotted rotors provide a sportier look. IMO of course.

Will report back after break in period.
