Thank you guys!

So I finally did something I've been wanting to do for a long time! After weeks of searching, I found a really nice parts car for a steal of a price!

I will be using the hood for my front end LCI conversion, and I will be using the dash/wiring for my iDrive retrofit! I also have a few other small projects I will be using this car for! Man this is an exciting time

Wheels have been sold.

So a small update - the CID on the parts car was no good when I purchased it, so I found a great deal on a screen in fantastic condition!

Next up is finding a used CCC navigation/cd unit because the one is this car is done for. Once everything is working in the parts car I will remove everything and do the swap into the 335i

The biggest challenge will be finding somebody who can do the remote coding to enable all features of the retrofit.

Are those OEM blacklines on the parts car? Any interest in selling them?

So I replaced my sending unit due to a crack where the return line goes in, seems to be a common issue.

I also installed a new fuel pump while I had everything out!

Another project I had going on is I had the side mirrors painted in gloss black (trim) and had the covers re-done in SGM. The gloss black trim will look so much better than the standard matte finish.

Currently wet sanding everything so it's nice and smooth before I put them back on!

I have been working with Nickco43 on here for all my coding. He has been super helpful regarding all questions I've had for the heated seat and iDrive retrofit.

So I've made some pretty great progress. I am doing an iDrive retrofit and heated seat retrofit at the same time.

I started disassembling the interior from my parts car. Dash is out.

I was able to remove all the wiring I'll need, CID harness, CCC controller harness, LVDS cable, and CCC cooling fan harness.

Another thing I was able to accomplish yesterday was the routing of the GPS fakra cable from the back to the front of the car!

I secured the end of the fakra cable up front, I will run the last bit of wiring once the dash is out while doing the retrofit.

Great build. Congrats.
I've seen you had the 1 series, m 3, e46....etc.
How would you rank your current 335 e90 in comparison?
Motor, ride quality, interior, behind the wheel feel, the way it drives?
I got an 90 2006 manual.
I am tempted to get another bimmer but I have trouble finding something to like better than e90 interior and driving feel but i dislike the front. Not agressive.

Today was an awesome day. I was able to get the dash and some of the interior out and I did all of the wiring for the iDrive retrofit and heated seat retrofit.

I had Nickco43 help me out again with the remote coding after I installed everything. Right now everything is 100% functional, tomorrow I will be reassembling the car.

Everything is working!

Small update!

So I finally was able to get the mirrors back on the car. The gloss black trim with freshly painted caps looks so much better than than the OEM finish!

Shadowline all the things!

So I finally got my blower motor wiring recall completed today. I didn't take any pictures of the wiring beforehand but it was scary.

Also, my next somewhat big project will be to re-do my sagging headliner. I am converting the upper grey interior to the M sport/M3 black cloth. My first step is to install this sunroof slider tomorrow, next will be to start collecting all of the black trim pieces and to have the headliner re-done locally.

What kind of paint did you use for the mirror housing?

The guy who painted them did a base/clear. Do you mean like the brand?

So yesterday I was able to get the sunroof sunshade swapped out. It was actually much easier than I thought. The whole process took about 30 minutes or so.

I followed this DIY:

During:

After:

Time to start gathering black headliner trim pieces!

It was not a spray can. It was a auto body shop paint job. It came out fantastic!

Your conversion reminds me of my old SGM 335i LCI M-Sport conversion. SGM is THE best color. And excellent work on all of the tweaks... you’re a true enthusiast!

Hey! Checked out your build coming from the highest milage thread- SWEET build man. LOVE the Graphite, I'm so sad that I have the black, and my front end looks like a Dalmatian with all the chips....

Your interior has just about confirmed to me that I need to find teh aluminum trim for my car. I've got the darker terra dakota leather- but it'll look amazing with it.

I've got to ask- Why the iDrive retrofit? Why not retrofit a more modern BMW system instead? I gave up the color choice on my car to find a manual, rwd, sport, heated seats, sedan... There just aren't may out there. Curious why you'd want to swap in the clunky old iDrive though!
