Question Aftermarket Exhaust....which sounds the best?

I've been tinkering around with the idea of putting an aftermarket exhaust on my 07' 335i. I know that the performance benefit is pretty small....but I'm more interested in better sound out of it. Most of the aftermarket exhausts I've heard online really make the cars sound bad (in my opinion).....just obnoxiously loud.

Are there any aftermarket exhausts out there that actually make the cars sound better, more aggressive, but not just crazy loud? Something deeper with a little more growl to it would be great.....but still tight and "refined
". I don't want the car to scream "look at me, look at me......listen to my cheap ebay exhaust". Something that doesn't drone on the highway, and won't get annoying on load road trips.

What are my options? Anyone had a shop just swap the mufflers out? Thanks!!!

I recently installed VRSF 3.5 inch cat back street and I have DPs. I think it's perfect. Under light throttle has little bit more of a deeper throaty sound and sounds awesome under WOT. I get zero drone at highway speeds. It's was really easy to install and it's half the price of most other catback exhaust.

I replaced the resonator in my driver's side muffler with a piece of straight pipe and wired the muffler flap to a switch so I can control it. I think it sounds great and I appreciate having the ability to quiet it down if I need to. I did the same thing with my 545i. Anyhow, costs almost nothing to do and would be a good first choice if you're unsure of what you want.

Currently I have Catless DP and a muffler delete but still have secondary cats personally I think it sounds really good but yes can be somewhat loud sometimes. Ideally keeping the muffler and putting cutouts in I think would be the best.

Nothing without a muffler will sound good IMO. I like the VRSF Street setup

Just get a used PE exhaust from someone on the forum. The BMW PE exhaust sounds the best.

The best sounding exhaust out there imo it shits on vrsf street/race exhaust. I've gotten many compliments on my exhaust setup. Great customer support @ATMSpeedshop. If you need any sound clips I may have a few videos.

That looks extremely loud.... basically a straight pipe with a resonator in it. How is it on the highway?

It sounds great on the highway ! It's a full 3.5" race exhaust what do you expect ? I've had zero regrets installing it. The atm exhaust putting in some serious work shooting 🔥balls out the exhaust 💯💨🏎🏎 putting a good 2.5-3 cars on a 2020 Camaro ZL1 from a 60 roll.

Well, from his first post, I'd say he's expecting something that's not crazy loud. I'm not saying yours doesn't sound great, but on the spectrum of exhaust options for this car, this would have to be much closer to the "crazy loud" side.

I have seen them as low as $550 & as high as $1000.00.

The guys selling them at $1000.00 are obviously clueless or really proud of their exhaust. Brand new it was $1200.00. I saw a brand new (maybe the last brand new one in the US) sell in January for $960 including shipping.

The guys selling at $550.00 probably just want it out of their garage. lol

I'd say a fair price is probably $700-750.00.

There was a video on YouTube that had quite a few exhausts on an N54, 335. So, you could compare. I think top gear solutions made it.

IMO, the 335is exhaust & PE exhaust have the exact same plumbing internally "with in" the mufflers. The only difference is the the 335is mufflers have a vacuum valve/ flap attached on the drivers side & black tips. You can put them on a sedan. You just have to shorten the length of the pipes the tips sit on by 2" or live with the tips sitting out 2" from the car.

The PE exhaust does not have a vacuum valve on the drivers side & it has silver/ chrome tips. It will also come with a special tag on the muffler that states it's a PE muffler.

I love the Turner Valved system, best of both worlds quiet when you want it quiet and pretty dang loud when you open the valves up.
