Is it possible to remove BMW Assist from the VO?

I have a 2009 E90 LCI which I've swapped out the TCU to a Combox.

After fitting the Combox I got the SOS warning which I believe is usual so I coded out the warning.

On reading the fault codes; I now get the following;
KOMBI A554 60
MASK/CCC E1CF 20

I know the KOMBI code is definitely a side effect of the Combox as it's due to no communication with the TCU. The second code is a mismatch of the current configuration to the original spec I believe which I'm assuming is also a Combox side effect.

Now I know that these codes can't be seen but knowing that they're there bugs me!

If I removed the BMW Assist option from the VO which I believe is SA639; would this remove the fault codes?

Nothing has been added or removed to the VO so far Buddy.

When I bought the car; I bought a Combox which was 300 miles away. I sent the CIC unit to the chap to be updated and coded to the Combox and he then sent back the updated CIC, the Combox and the relevant wiring harness.

This was all then plug and play with the exception of coding out the SOS warning from the Kombi (TCM_ID_MONITOR to Nicht_Aktiv).

Nothing else on the car was changed.

Hi,

Remove from VO:
$6AA
$6AB
$612

Add to VO $644 instead of $639

and recode: CAS, NFRM, CIC, KOMBI, FZD.

That's it.

Guys. That's great! Thank you.

I'm in Mexico right now so will try and report back next week.

Can I just confirm what I'm adding and removing with each amendment and will I lose any coding already done?

Thanks again.

So could you give us a feedback please. Have you fixed your problem?

OK, I'm facing the same problem with the error code E1CF
I have replaced my TCU with a combox and I'm sure I have not removed all the mentioned SAs. I will remove the from the VO and recode the modules later today. Thanks

Do you have nav prof?
What VO is used for BT, $639 or $644? If you will send me your VIN i can tell you what needs to be removed/changed.

Funny you should post this as I've only just had chance to look into this again due to being overrun with work.

I originally set TCM_ID_MONITOR to nicht_aktiv in the Kombi in order to disable the SOS Error after switching to the Combox. That still left me with error A554 in the Kombi; Setting TCM_ALIVE_MONITOR to nicht_aktiv in the Kombi has cured that.

I just need to get onto this E1CF error.

Cryptomit; you kindly provided details of the options to remove from my VO and which modules will then need coding.

My concern here is that in preparation for the Combox retrofit I sent my CIC Unit to the Chap to code. He provided the Combox which he coded using an SSD VO.

If I were to alter the VO and code the CIC; is this likely to affect the Combox functionality or coding?

I'm not sure what the SSD VO is?

It depends, if you will remove $6VC then you will loose BT audio, cause 6vc is a combox, but any other VOs modification won't change anything related to Combox.

Maybe I will be able to help you more if you tell me what exactly would you like to change in VOs?

This thread gives a little info on SSD files http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=854827

Everything works as it should on the car; I just want to cure the E1CF error code that flags up.

I've just read the FZD, CIC and Kombi trace files and manually removed any reference to Assist and Teleservices but I've not written them back to the car as yet.

In order to disable BMW assist you need to do the following:

1. Add +TELD to the VO
2. Save in CAS
3. Code default settings on cluster/cic/

You should be good to go. No need to remove other options from the VO

As far as I know this works for pre-lci cars only.

I think I may have solved the E1CF error.

When the CIC and Combox were retrofitted; I sent the modules away to be coded therefore the VO was never changed.

I've now changed the build date from 0909 to 0911 in both the CAS & NFRM which appears to have removed the error.

I'll check again tomorrow after work.

Len_Beach maybe I could try to see what is in your VO and help you with your issue. Do you have some codes on your dash or this E1CF code visible in INPA?

Hi,
Thank you for the offer!
My VO is back to stock as I've just had the cars software updated.
My Vin is A182092; this site will show the VO options
http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html
At present the build date is set as 09/09 and 6VC isn't added; the Combox still works perfectly.
When I add 6VC; Media shows in INPA.
The E1CF error code doesn't show in the check control; it shows in INPA. I know it's daft but it bugs me like mad knowing it's there.
The Combox is a Media unit.
Thanks in advance.
