Thumbs up Dodo Juice: Supernatural Carnauba review

First of all, I wanted to thank George and Detailed Image for always offering advice, instruction and a truly impressive line up of products to the e90post community.

So, I have been reading all of these great things about the Supernatural Carnauba wax made by Dodo Juice to the point that I thought maybe I should give it a try. I have enjoyed using the Dodo Juice brand of products since Detailed Image began carrying the product line last year. That's not to say they are the only brand of car wax I use ........ not by a long shot.

I have worked my way through many of the carnaubas available @ DI and thought it was time for a change. A supernatural change ...

As I was pressed for time due to a schedule change I did not take pictures through each of the processes. The paint was polished using a PC 7424 w/ orange, black and white buffing pads. As the car has virtually no blemishes in the paint the removal of old wax was my main reason for polishing ..... and maybe just a little more shine ...

The products used are as follows:

Citrus Wash
Klasse AIO
Menzerna FPI
Menzerna FPII
Meguiars Show Car Glaze (had forgotten mine at home and was limited)
Supernatural Carnauba
P.S. As I wanted to see the true results of the carnauba wax I opted not to apply any sealant before waxing.

After cutting the paint with the Klasse (first time actually using this product) the paint was already beginning to show a darker gloss.

Taped and polishing ......

Notice the shine after just the Klasse application. Menzerna Polish 1/2 were applied afterward along with the glaze (which I tossed).

After the Menzerna Polish applications .....

My sample of the Supernatural Carnauba to be applied ....
The Supernatural is a true carnauba in that it has texture that mirrors butter. It comes off as easily as it is to apply and leaves no hazing or marred effect behind!

Ahhh ....... she has her true JB color once again!

and a week later I applied the second coat of Supernatural along with a new spoiler ... the Jet Black color is awesome

On the passenger side? No, actually, the hinge/latch on that side has always been sticky and never fully engages. Dealer says it's fixed ....... I disagree.

The hood is actually a much better quality than I had expected and took the paint really well for a cf base. Since I am overly OCD I had a body shop shave the front lip of the hood 1.5 mm just to lessen any chance of there being a noticable gap. The only downside to that is that the hood must be closed by hand rather than (as so many owners seem to do) letting the hood drop/close.

As with most cf parts I would defintiely suggest having a reputable body shop take care of installing this hood. The results will show and in my case, I couldn't be happier with the end result.

Take a look in my photo album as I think I have plenty of other shots showing the hood alignment to be nearly perfect. I wouldn't have been able to sleep at night if I wasn't satisfied.

Any word on durability? I guess all carnaubas are beauty waxes, but will it last 1 week? 4 weeks?

Your car looks terrific, BTW.

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment!

Durability?
Not yet. The sample I received gave me 2 moderate coats and we're going on 4 weeks now since the first coat was applied. The second coat wasn't half as heavy as the first since the paint had just been cleaned.

One thing I have noticed is that this wax seems to have a stronger resistance to "surface scratches" such as might be apparent after wiping the paint surface down etc. The scratches that I would normally see on the surface (as I wipe the car down often, everyday) after just a week aren't there ....... as fine as the wax is I would have thought just the opposite.

With all of the Dodo brand waxes I've used AND enjoyed; I think this is the one I'm going to stick with for a while. I like the fact it's refillable too.

Thanks man!

Rainforest Rub is another one I've been wanting to try. I went thru the Purple Haze pretty quick and am still happy with the results from it. From there I tried the Rubbishboys and never used it past a few applications. Just doesn't give the "wet/deep" results the dark colors love.

You mentioned keeping yours in the fridge ........ definitely a good idea. I kept this Supernatural in the trunk for a day and, although not enough left for another application, the heat destroyed the texture. It just kinda balls up rather than spread the way it had.

Looks real good.

I used PB Natty's Blue on mine this past weekend and it came out pretty nice, certainly looks really good for a $20 wax. May have to try some Dodo now though.

Of course, 2 days later and the pollen is already taking over my beautiful detail job..
