Transmission Service

Hi All,

2011 335i DCT ~90K on the clock. Looking to get the transmission fluid change.

Speaking to BMW they recommend changing the pan/gasket/stretch bolts as well. Is this necessary? I understand the bolts; however, as long as the gasket is okay and seals does the pan/gasket need to be changed?

pan+gasket+bolts ~$400

Any info or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Omar

The cost of the oil is pretty high and that's why its recommended to change the gasket at the same time. Some salvage the oil and reuse it ...... If you're located in Sydney I can recommend someone who knows all about it.

I suppose the question is, Is it worth the risk for you ?

I mean the cost isn't too much of an issue $400 in the scheme of things doesn't change anything - but if its not necessary then it could be spent on other goodies!

So i'm assuming it is common practice to replace sump pan and gasket when doing the transmission service?

not sure why they don't sell the gaskets separately...
