Subtle hesitating? On the highway
Hey guys, I'm having a subtle issue with my 2010 335xi and I want to see if anyone has had this before. At cruising speed (80kms to 100kph) I can feel a very subtle hesitation like the car is pushing against itself. It's like a slow pulsing but other than that nothing is wrong. Anyone ever felt this before?
I bought this car from a used dealer less than a month ago with the CEL on. They have ordered a replacement part but it hasn't come in yet and I don't have a scanner to read the possibly new codes that it might be throwing. |

You bought a car with a CEL on without scanning the codes first?
Assuming your 2010 is an N54, the issue sounds like it could be resolved through the usual maintenance means, which start with walnut blasting the intake valves & installing new spark plugs.

Well the light came on the way home, took it back they determined a pinched wire on an aftermarket charge pipe. They want to replace it with a factory one with new wiring. Sounds bad I know. I just freakin love the car. I've done some maintenance already, the OFHG on my own, and changed the PCV valve.

I did not, I figured there was a sensor or push clip somewhere I cannot see. The Service manager supposedly has a connection at the local BMW dealership and gave scanned codes to him and that is what he came back with. I'd prefer to keep the HKS charge pipe and BOV. Guess I'll have to scan the code myself before I take it back to the dealership

I forgot I had a cheap OBD2 Bluetooth scanner. I got the P0420/P0430 codes. I've read that's either 02 sensors, Catalytic Converters or Vanos. I'm going to have a fun chat at the dealership tomorrow.

Keep in mind, if you bought a used car, especially one at a random non-bmw dealer and the car was sold 'as is, we owe nothing' (most likely a document you signed at purchase) they are not obligated to fix anything for you. So if you intend on your chat going anywhere productive, realize they are not on the hook to fix your car for you at all.
Unless you did in fact have an agreement of warranty or there was an implied idea of if anything goes wrong bring it back, then dont listen to me and good luck. |

The only thing I have really is a 30 day if I'm not happy with it return it type deal. It's a massive dealership, and they were quick to ask me for a google+ review when I left with the car. There was no indication initially that they would not fix what was wrong.

Buy a bimmer geeks adapter and protool. spend less, get the equivalent of INPA in your phone. or if you're super cheap. Buy a $20 can cable from amazon and download the software for free. get factory level diagnostics. |
