"Increased Battery Discharge"
Every morning for the past 6-9+ months my car barks at me in the morning staying "increased battery discharge".I have taken her in to the dealer many times and they have never solved the problem permanently.
First time they charged the battery. Second time they did the recall and switched out the d-block (don't think that did anything but was more to do with safety) Third time they said my car wasn't "going to sleep" completely even though my keys are really far from my car when it's garaged. Today, I get my car back with a new battery...hope this helps! Anyone else have this issue? |

Not really. well you got a new battery hope this helps you...
The fact that they did everything they could to NOT replace your battery was a failure on their end. Besides, this costed you time and gas on going back to the dealership. |

I got this message a couple times and then a few weeks later a completely dead battery. I would charge it and it wouldn't hold a charge overnight. I took it in the first time for some other issues and mentioned the battery. They only charged it. After it failed I jumped it and dropped it off at the dealer. They still tested the car with ISID before they tested the battery and found it had a bad cell.
I have not had any issues since it was replaced. My car is a 04/10 build date 2011 with 39k on it. It's driven 40-50 miles a day. |

Lots of people have this problem.
Usually they are low mileage drivers or let the car sit for extended
periods . If you fit into this category you should get a battery tender. Locking the car will cause it to go to sleep within a minute or two. If you don't it could be 30 minutes to and hour and it draws .5 amps when its in this state . Also having the keyfob within radio distance can keep it awake. Did you install any aftermarket stuff? |

Certainly hope it's just a bad cell- it's just kind of a pain in the ass...
Car is bone stock, and driven anywhere between 20-120 miles per day. Car may sit at times for a week if the weather is nice and I'm biking to work but the issue hasn't really been around times of low use. Still waiting to get a call back from BMW Encinitas- hope the issue is all worked out! |

Figured I'd use this thread instead of starting a new topic....
Just received this message yesterday, noticed when unlocking my car the welcome lights on the outside did not come on only the inside were on. Took the car for a drive see if that would charge it back up. Message went away after turning off the car and back on after a 30 min drive. Noticed when turning car off it displayed an orange battery symbol in the cluster screen. Drove for another 30-45 min and finally parking the car i saw again the orange battery on the cluster screen. (I was also messing with the seat, saving my settings). Should charging the battery solve my issue? Car really sat for 2 weeks at a time. Last time I filled up was in November...last time I did drive it though was on new years. |
