I'm looking for streetability at 650wtq. It's either the PTF/SPEC or this. Worst case scenario I end up buying the PTF/SPEC in ~20,000 miles??

Guess it's too soon to say which is the right choice.

I just installed this one as my stock clutch (well, pressure plate) wasn't holding up anymore on Cobb STG2 let alone 2+FMIC. So far, I'm loving it. It grabs hard and grabs quick! Definitely feels much more sportier than the stock 335i clutch. Pedal effort is only marginally increased. I notice it is a bit more springy than the stock 335i clutch when you're getting off the pedal - almost as if the pedal wants your foot to get the hell off, lol! This is how the car should've come stock, IMO. For hardly $10 more than a regular 335i clutch it, I think this is the best upgrade for a tuned 6MT car by far. Can't beat OEM upgrades.

I'm just going out on a limb and saying it probably won't hold the 650rwtq for long. But hey, if it holds it for 20k and costs 1/4 the others then its a worthwhile upgrade, just loose labor or time doing the swap.

Soon enough it will feel completely stock, mine use to feel slightly stiffer, now I would have to sit in a stock 335i to see how much softer it is hehe.

Did you have to resurface your dmfw , or was the IS clutch a direct fit ?

direct fit to the DMFW the resurfacing has nothing to do with the fitment, but with restoring the surface of the flywheel as best as possible.. generally no one resurfaces the DMFW, but will clean the surface as best as they can.

I have a 84000 miles 335xi with jb4 / intake. My stock clutch just started slipping on full boost with 5 people in the car (I bought the car at 77000 and I just installed the jb4 not long ago, so it was not chipped to start with ).

I am suprised the clutch went so quickly, but I don't know how the car was driven before.
I had 2 M3's before, and they all had good clutches at 120,000 miles when I sold them. And they both took a good beating at the track and autocross, etc.

I am installing this 335is clutch next week, I will let you know how it feels.

I'd bet your pressure plate is what's giving out, not the clutch. Can it hold power in the lower gears?

Either way, you'd be dropping the tranny. May as well do the clutch while you're at it...

Are most of you just changing the clutch/pp and leaving the DMFW alone? My clutch isn't slipping yet but I am FBO with E50 so I am thinking of making the swap now to save the flywheel.

Tks.

This clutch is extactly what I want . Stock like feel , no chatter like spec 2+ SSFW, cost effective , just on the fence with long term reliability . Looking for someone with 20k + miles on the upgrade to chime in. Needs to hold FBO + E50-60 for me

Did anyone replace the dual mass flywheel when putting in the 335is clutch kit in your 335i?

How about if the car is at 100-120k miles, would anyone consider replacing the dual mass flywheel? I know the DMFW is not cheap to replace.

I replaced mine but not with another dual mass flywheel, I went single mass. The condition of my DMFW at 100k was very poor.

Wait, you can put a single mass flywheel in? How does that work and how would it be compatible? Wouldn't they be different dimensions?

In tuning process of the VTT 2+'s. Clutch is holding 550 wtq fine. Feels good, no issues.

I just ordered my 550i clutch. I will be pairing it with M factory's single steel flywheel . Any other things that I need before getting this installed ? Everything from what I undestand is a direct fit ?

Thinking about getting a new flywheel / clutch soon... I used to be FBO Stg 2+FMIC and the clutch was already slipping... ended up going back to Stage 1+ for other reasons, but going back to FBO Stg 2+ this week...

I'm looking for a clutch/flywheel combo that will hold Stg2+FMIC + E60 map (eventually) for the long term (labor for flywheel/clutch is just too much to do twice).

Seems like the IS clutch is holding up, but will it hold that much power for 5+ years under regular beating on the streets (aggressive driving)?

Otherewise, I'm between Spec2+ with DMFW (I really can't stand anything but MINIMAL chatter) vs the PTF Dual Clutch with SMFW (If I can find any information about how much chatter this causes... I've only heard good things about drivability so far).

Essentially, I'm just looking for a clutch/flywheel combo that gives the LEAST amount of chatter that can hold Stg2+FMIC+E60 power levels for the long term...

335is/550i clutch suits your preferences the best.
If you don't like chatter, you don't like PTF dual.
