OFFICIAL 2006 BMW 330i (E90) THREAD
The 2006 BMW 330i is very special in many ways:
> It was the top of the line vehicle for the newly introduced E90 body style as a 2006 model. > In a way, for the US market, it's kind of a limited production BMW, since it was produced only as a 2006 model. Many of these cars have just turned 3 years old, and many will continue to do so over the next months, as deliveries took place from the 2nd part of 2005. > These cars are starting to be sought after, as they have good value due to good balance of power, handling and comfort. Let's post our cars here: pictures, specs, details, long term reviews, etc. It's ok to re-post, or to place links to older posts, related to the 2006 BMW 330i. Let's open the discussion! |

Hey, I have no problem showing a little love for the 330i. At 2.5 years and 27K miles old, I still love mine and look forward to driving it every day. Amazing that the infatuation still has not worn off.

I believe our cars came over on the same boat too. Everytime I drive my 330xi I really am astounded at what it can do! I love the car and the balance it offers.

2006 330i vs 2009 328i and 335i
My 2006 330i was $44,920 before taxes.
A similarly equiped 2009 328i runs for $45,375 A similarly equiped 2009 335i runs for $50,675 The 2006 330i is roughly the same price as the 2009 328i (is almost the same performance too - the 255 HP vs 230 HP is not that noticeable). Although for that price the 328i comes with 17in wheels and not 18in. The 2009 335i is more almost $6 grand more than the 2006 330i. The 335i is a lot more powerful though, and has more flexibility on tuning. |

^^^^ I think that if you compare MY 2007, or even 2008 for that matter of the 335i, while it is still more expensive than the 330i, you wont find as great of a discrepancy; remember there was a recent price hike for 2009 models because of the whole weak dollar issue.
There is two ways to look at this idea of the 330i being "special." You can look at your car as a one year production model and think it's special, BUT ask yourself WHY it's a one year production car before really thinking it's really that special. Is it because BMW lagged on building the N54 and had a chassis way before a motor? Is it because BMW saw the N52 as being insufficient to keep up with its competition (IS350, G35, etc)? Was the 2006 MY E90 rushed to the market being a whole new car but with an older motor that was merely updated? I honestly dont know the answers to these question, perhaps some of you here do, but just some thoughts on this topic I knew some E90 330i owners (well two anyway) who felt that they got the raw end of the deal buying 2006 MY E90s then seeing a TT motor in the E90 for 2007 MY. Either way, it is a car that I am looking for because it seem to be more reliable than its predecessor - the 335i - at least from what I ave been reading here and other places. Also less temptation to mod the engine because it lacks FI. Trying to find a manual transmission in this car is tough though as stated above - few and far between. I am actually contemplating test driving an auto to see if it is something I can live with; I've previously test driven auto 335s but didnt pay much attention as it was for my g/f. Anyway for what seems to be a great car all around. |
