I have the same WMA1000 adapter and I tested it in my Combox-equipped iDrive and the iPod screen shows up like the iPhone was connected directly to the USB port. I did the same in a VW CC and the iPod screen also shows in the Nav like having the iPhone plugged in the USB. I would suggest deleting the pairing at the iPhone and re-establishing a new one. |

Do you have the USB option at all? Can you borrow an iPod or older iPhone to test if the details and controls work when connected physically?

6FLA USB/audio interface, 6NFA Music interface for smartphone, 644A Preparation for mobile phone with Bluetooth. Do you have the same options? & once you connect the Tune2air do the iPhone phone functions operate through the Tune2air or do the phone functions still operate through the OEM Bluetooth with only the music functions going through the Tune2air? |

Hi,
I do not have the 6NF (smartphone adapter) but I do have the 6FL and Bluetooth for Phone calls. The phone function still uses the BMW solution and the music uses the Tune2air through the factory y cable. If you have the USB and aux jack in the center console and the y cable and can hook up an iPod/iPhone, then it should work with the tune2air. |

I just got mine yesterday for early 2010 build 335D. Amazing product. The dealer would probably be able to sell this functionality as oh maybe a $700 option - this little tune2air makes my car like a MODERN car with wireless streaming audio (BMW was so slow to the party on streaming bluetooth audio). I'm amazed it worked. Going to get one for my wife's Mini which has the same "y cable enhanced iPod" functionality.
If you're hooking up your iphone with a y cable, this is for you. And of course, a seamless transition for the iphone 5 too... so I can use my $30 apple adapter on some other docking device. |

Works great!
Add me to those who are extremely satisfied with this solution! Only $100 and I can stream my music and pandora from my iPhone 5 while it stays in my pocket.
I love this forum! |

This is G-D fantastic! EXACTLY what I wanted to build but tabled when I couldn't get a favorable codec license agreement!
ordering, like, RIGHT now.

Can you at all confirm that this doesn't totally mess up bass or make sharp clean highs sound ultra-compressed like most BT solutions do? Almost nobody is willing to pony up and pay ~$1/unit for AAC decoding, but SBC sounds like shit. For $100 there's a really good possibility they have, but I can find no mention of it whatsoever.

Bluetooth sounds crappy because the only codec required by the A2DP standard is SBC, which is just awful quality/bitrate. You CAN use AAC (assuming source and sync both support it), shifting the bottleneck to the compression of the file itself (not really, but you're somewhere around matching the file compression quality in most cases.) The problem is, SBC comes for free rather than $15k up front plus a dollar per unit like AAC, so very very few devices implement AAC.

USB supports Lossless (new NBT iDrive support Lossless via USB). Bluetooth Audio does not.

Also, does 6FL support any lossless codecs? I'm not aware that it does. I'm sure the USB audio profile used in a combox context doesn't care if your iPhone has lossless files on it since it's a different OSI layer entirely.

I think it is a fair bet that the Tune2Air is at the low bitrate. Their website is sparse, and if it was able to transmit AAC I would guess they would trumpet the fact.
Nevertheless, it works - I wonder what is the typical car bluetooth spec? Do most of the cars these days spend for the higher bitrate BT transmission? Product is a champ for $100 no matter how you slice it. |

I was really impressed when it worked and sounded great in a VW CC. It is really like having the iPhone plugged into the MDI (iPod adapter/6FL in VW-speak) USB port.
For sure it sounds much better than Satellite Radio. |
