I have been using this site.. the pump I use is called propel ( e85 and bio diesel) and it's located at the shell gas stations. it even has a spot where you can sign in a flex fuel account be tracked all over the country. LOL

But not that difficult filling it up with 50/50 at times

I document my fills and calculate how much I need to blend

Just making sure, no tune yet but been wanting to mix E85 to make the engine run smoother. Good to know its ok without tune. (unless im missing more haha)

^^Real won't see any gains running E85 on a stock tune, but it def won't hurt if it's mixed appropriately (not higher than 95 octane)

well, yes you will if the e85 allows for more advance than whatever gas you're using, especially for ACN 91 users. And mixing higher than X octane has nothing to do with anything, it's fuel volume limits that are an issue.

Well your timing will be a lot better, but it's not like your car will go from the stock 300/300 tune to 320/330

Benz, there's quite a difference in torque between 6 degrees at X load vs 10 degrees at x load especially in the upper rpm's.

On ACN swill, you may very well be missing out on 20 whp at 6000 rpm. In my observations the stock DME is designed to ride the knock sensor/correction system and generally take advantage of whatever octane is available. On good 93 octane I still pull timing across cylinders on Stg0.

What I should do is run my tank down to vapor, fill with 1.5 gallons crap 91 from a mom/pop and do a few pulls. Then add 1 gallon of e85 and do a few pulls. I'd compare the logs and the resulting csv dyno's. At least it would help us understand the influence of cleaning up timing on the stock rom with e85.

My manual states not to use E85, but I can't comment on yours. And, as I stated before, anyone is free to use whatever fuel they want, but should be prepared for any problems that might arise in a car that is clearly NOT equipped for "flex-fuel" capability.

And white wedding dresses are for virgins. We got it, BMW says not to use e85, and downpipes, single turbo swaps, fmic's piggies and flash tunes. But this is an enthusiast board and you're in the modifications forum. So the e85 ghost stories as I call them are the same that I was reading in 2004 on evoM, 2005 on nasioc, and stand in the face of years and years of use in the n54 itself. It's 2012, we will evolve as they did!

ive been doing about 5-5.5 gallons of 91 oct and 6-8 gallons of e85 and so far no issues. i even took it in to the dealer while doing a scope check and everything lol! they said everything is working good...i have: RL DP,BMS DCI,JB4 with new firmware on map 5

I live in California so yes I have the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with this type of gas (wohoo). Ive been filling up with 4 gal of 100 oct near me lately, but in california its $8.49/gal. so being able to compensate with E85 and not needing a tune helps a great deal. And yes there is a very noticeable difference when i supplement with 100 octane. Car runs much smoother and jumps a little quicker.

Regular pump gas contains ~15% ethanol, E85 should be ~85% (hence the 85)

E85 by law can have as little as 70% ethanol, hence the sticker at the pumps. Winter blends of E85 are right at 70-75% in the colder climates. Most summer blends are at 80-85%.

Codes popped just before 100mph at WOT
Hooked up to laptop and fuel loop was @ 98 each time it coded
Terry advised me to me to turn off loop auto learn and set loop to 80 to stop codes
I was wondering if maybe codes were due to e85
Still running out the e85 tank
I'll fill up with93 tomorrow and do some logs to see if I get the same codes without e85 before turning off the fuel loop auto loop

Any updates?
