new E91 owner here.
Hello all.
I have just joined the E91 club after 10 years of various e46's current one is touring 320d but i had a 330ci before. I have now bought an e91 320d manual and am already learning after 24 hours i have work to do on my 2011 car. Reverse gear jumps out or crunches. I believe this is a syncro issue. The body work needs some love various scratches. This is an ES so i think I may want M-sport bumpers. are there any other M sport parts that are worth getting? i assume suspension. What cable would be recommended for proper DIAG in the UK. I use torque and a bluetooth OBDII interface but its limited only to certain error codes (i have none currently ) Is INPA what i need for parts and coding etc? i can run win xp etc if required. sorry if any of this is i have looked around and have a fair bit of info but asking fresh never hurts. |

Nice! Welcome to the Shooting-Brake club... well I guess since you have a e46 touring, you've already been in the Long Roof club, but glad to see another e91 being taken care of... What color combination?
Body wise, the M-Sport stuff looks great, but I would go for suspension and wheels and tires first. Coilovers are really your best bet to dial everything in nicely and have some adjustments. I hear good things from Bilstein B8's and H&R or eibach springs if you don't want to got the full coilover route. As far as diagnostics go, I would look into either the Carly or bimmergeeks apps, which should work with your Wifi/Bluetooth OBDII dongle or you can buy the PC version and a cable. These should give you more BMW specific Diagnostics as well as allow you to code the different modules and options to your car. |

Thanks!
Its black is as much as I can say, the interior is grey cloth which I plan to update to black leather IF i keep it I still really want a 335 manual e91 but they are so rare in the UK I may be taking a good year to find one. I have my wheels from the 46 that I am putting on it has 19s currently they are not in great shape, but my replacements are 18" X3 wheels. freshly restored. diamond cut and dipped. Carly does seem a good way to go I guess I have to buy the proper adaptor. new wheel caps and bolts on order! Last edited by jungle91; 02-18-2019 at 02:49 PM.. |

bimmergeeks cable and downloads. If you want a phone app bimmergeeks pro tool Ista and Inpa is a more pro setup though. Also diesel knowledge may be limited on this forum. Limited diesels in the US and no 4 cylinders for the e90 chassis here. There is some UK sub forums here though. diagnostic manual ista/inpa https://bimmerprofs.com/diagnostics-inpa-part-1/ https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...xo19teM9vkTF-C https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...7x8H3pN8h1fMuF https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-P-actually-do http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16 You might try some redline d4 or d6 in your transmission as a first attempt to smooth it out. See redline oil site. Last edited by ctuna; 02-18-2019 at 05:57 PM.. |

The Bimmerworks cable and INPA/ISTA is probably the best solution, less issues loosing connections... although Carly does seem pretty good, not sure if it is honestly worth $60 a year though. |

if I were in the market again for stuff, I'd buy the bimmergeeks stuff over the carly.
especially since carly is now a yearly subscription. if reverse gear pops out after it's already been fully engaged, not a synchro issue. Synchros only do work when meshing gears. more likely a bearing or linkage issue, with linkage being most likely. |
