RWYB Santa Pod

Anyone fancy doing a "meet" at one of the RWYB days at the Pod? Ideally a date where there isn't an even occurring to ensure maximum track time...

http://www.rwyb.co.uk/dates.php

Dates attached. Im looking at sooner rather than later though although I do plan on attending a number of times this year.

Let me know thoughts

I'll defo be going this year guys. Was going to go yesterday. Was on the way there but left it really late and decided to turn around and come back. It's 80 miles from me.

It's great fun! So much more to it than you'd think.

Well next one is on the 12th March and it's on a Saturday. I hate the Sunday ones as I feel I need a day to recover after 160 miles round trip and getting up at around 6am to arrive before 9. Then leaving at 5:30pm means home by around 8pm. Traffic, 50 zones etc etc.
Weather is hit and miss this time of the year. A single drop of rain closes the track until they dry it and often re-heat it. The surface is rubber. Water can't get through.

Yup agree time of year isn't great. I travel the same sort of distance as you buddy but still prefer the Sunday's. Too many family commitments on a Saturday with kids clubs etc lol.

I would defo be up for this but at the moment the weather is unpredictable. Ideally I would go later on in April/May when hopefully it will be dry, and also once i have some new rubber on.

Went last year and was very good fun. Would be nice to be there with other BMWs.

Fellas I'm planning on going Saturday April 30th...that weekend isn't linked to an event...it's a bank holiday which could be good or bad?

April may and beyond would be better to try and gurantee some sort of decent weather. Bank holiday weekend may be tricky to organise as people may plan on being away.

What about either Sat 7th may or sunday 15th may
Or thereis a saturday night special on 18th june day before the bmw show.

Shame they decided to do bmw day on fathers day this yr.

Yep, I'd be up to attend a few of these, would be good to get some comparisons with similar modded FBO cars.

In June it's going to be hot as well. I like the cool air for a good run. I'll probably do a test run next week end but I'll be going again following that.

I'm going next Saturday, weather permitting. I wanna see how much quicker I can go with the mishimoto inter cooler.

Don't be surprised if you are slower at first mate. With the intercooler having a bigger volume it makes it a little bit tougher for the turbos to pump air. The thing is the intercooler needs airflow over it to work properly so you get heat soak queueing up. With me the difference I saw was that my IAT temps would actually be dropping by the end of the run thanks to a bigger intercooler and meth where before they'd rise with just the stock intercooler or stay the same with stock intercooler and meth. You'll see the benefit of the intercooler during continuous driving and basically won't have to reduce boost or pull timing due to high IATs. Wit the strip you only have 12 to 13 seconds for the intercooler to go to work and you only achieve the high speeds with the best cooling by the very end.
My car got faster after using better more aggressive back end flashes. You can push the car harder thanks to the better cooling of the intercooler.

Hope that makes sense.
