Hi

Thank you so much for the advice and reply.

I went and test drove the 335 coupe today, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can never believe I can drive so quick, and that was so easy!

I was testing it in a winding road and I just floor around corners in 2nd gear... the car has no signs of slipping!!! DSC didn't even kicked in.

Shame that was an auto, they didn't have a manual for me to try.

Than it went to price negotiating, I counter offer 15% off to begin with, than eventually raise it to 10% off asking price, but dealer still refused to negotiate.

I walked away... Will go to another dealer next weekend.

Maybe - but the V3's seem to solve that too! I'm not a track hero - just enjoy driving so can't think of anyplace where it would be an issue assuming your driving on public roads at a safe pace.

All this debate about the extra weight is only relevant if your planning on tracking/racing your car - which if you are should be limited to a race track.

So - for the 99% of e92/e93 drivers that never make it to a track - what is the relevance?

To someone like yourself, e93, obviously it is not relevant. You don't need to defend the 'vert. Enjoy the breeze.

Obviously a big +1 from another "non-racer's" perspective.

Yep - thats why I bought it!

For someone who has not met me - your a presumptive ass. Hope your balls are bigger behind the wheel than they are behind a keyboard.

Look forward to your track day post!

Quite seriously, where did I presume anything?

This Aussie forum does really well without the personal attacks that frequent forums, please don't denigrate this forum e93.

If you are interested in my track day post you will have to look back a few months over at m3post.

Back on topic for Stephen's sake, astra touched on this earlier on, the general consensus is that BMW dropped the ball a little with the E93 roof styling, but again, go for what YOU want not anybody else.

This is getting amusing...

But...

e93, no one was taking a stab at you, I am sure you misunderstood, it's all good here I wouldn't take offense to what he said, I love the feeling of the breeze, and that's mostly why I bought my car! I love my slow (compared to your's), lard ass car, but I don't care if people say these things, cos I love it! Heheh

And OzStriker, lets not bring up my opinions on the car when someone feels they have been taken a stab at, it could get ugly

Styling is a very subjective topic and therefore everyone has their own view on what's good or otherwise. I don't think BMW did a bad job on the roof of the E93 and lets not forget the design has to function and perform as well as look good.

And while were on the topic of convertables, the new 1 series convertable is starting to grow on me if only just for the sake of getting back to E30 type roots. Small car, big engine and top down motoring ... sounds good to me. Of course you will also need to have good comebacks for when the "haidresser" jokes start coming your way.

Exactly right, like the saying goes "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", how true that statement is here!

Ofcourse (coming from a designer's mouth...), but in every design, there is always room for improvement... Like the damned project I am working on at the moment

You make the 1 series vert almost sound better when you put it like that!

IMO
E93 roof is the best and very stylish, not just because i own bmw. and comparing to audi, benz, volvo, peugeot. I still vote e93 roof is the best

Same. Have looked and played with all other Euro make/model variants at the last Sydney Motor Show at DH. None go close to BMW roof system particulary re robustness and general lateral strength of leverage points when partially opened, and overall neatness of rear trim and roof seals when up or down. Thought that the other makers would have had a chance to improve on the original BM process by now - wrong.

Oh another question I would lilke to ask for advice...

Will the dealer offer paint protection?
Is it worth taking out?
If not, where is the best place to go? I know there is a type of protection where a clear thin plastic coating is actually physically stuck on top of the paint, what does everyone think about this?

Not worth the paint protection... But leather protection on the other hand IMO is (I know alot will disagree with me, but lets not forget my steering wheel leather practically melting off... Got replaced thankgod due to my leather protection policy...)

I am sure they will try and make you sign for either one, or both!
