E90 wheel spacers

Hi guys

Looking to put genuine staggered MV3's on the wife's e90 and thinking of adding wheel spacers all round to improve the stance and look. Its a standard 2006 (pre-LCI) 320d M Sport - the MV3's will have runflats but will probably switch to standard tyres once the runflats need replacing - no plans to lower the suspension etc

Few questions for the "guru's " amongst us:

- what is the recomended (maximum) size I can go for the fronts and rears - without creating rubbing issues etc?
- do spacers affect tyre wear rates or cause other mechanical items to wear quicker?
- any recomendations (links) to any products out there?
- anything else I need to be aware of please?

Thanks as always

- what is the recommended (maximum) size I can go for the fronts and rears - without creating rubbing issues etc? - I suggest 15mm all round.

- do spacers affect tyre wear rates or cause other mechanical items to wear quicker? - No, unless you go for something hideously wide, which might put undue strain on the wheel bearings.

- any recommendations (links) to any products out there? H&R or Eibach. Loads of on-line outlets sell these (all TUV approved).

- anything else I need to be aware of please? - Make sure any spacers you buy are hub-centric. If you want the max possible width, you need to measure: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/t-wh...yclopedia.aspx

15 on the front and 20 on the back, might get a little on the back but the backs need spacing more than the fronts to match.

Thanks to the three of you for replying

I am picking the wheels up on the weekend and was hoping to get the spacers and wheels fitted at the same time so wont be able to measure the "gap" before fitting - really dont want to risk any arch rub, especially when the car is carrying 4 or 5 folks so seems like 15mm all round is safest - or can I safely do 15mm on the fronts and 20mm on the rears?

Presume I should get 4 wheel alignment done at the same time and do this after fitting the spacers and wheels?

Will def go for hubcentric and get the longer wheel bolts

An added benefit of 15mm all round is that it maintains the same relationship between front and rear track as when the car left the factory...

Unless you're pushing hard on track you're not going to notice the extra 5mm, it does however look better, as the rears are too tucked standard.

Thanks Phil - before I posted this thread, this is where my mind was i.e. push both wheels out the same amount - what would be the consequence of using staggered spacers?

LOL - on my drive home last night all i kept noticing was how the rears look more "tucked in" then the fronts on a lot of cars on the road - surely there's a reason the manufacturers have done this?

Probably not much, though it will obviously change the front/rear track width relationship from the original design spec...

Manufacturers have tucked rear wheels as the arch has to be a curve inside basically, so the optimum suspension travel distance is in the centre.

They can't release a car which will rub under any circumstance.

Thanks guys for your help - picked the MV3's up a few weeks ago and just ordered the spacers/bolts/lockers from Chris (CM Wheels)

Decided to go 12mm on the fronts and 15mm on the rears - I know 20mm has been suggested for the rear but often the car is fully loaded so cant risk any arch rub

Will post some feedback once on!!

P.S - will have a staggered set of LM reps for sale shortly

I ran 20mm spacers with csl reps don't know what the off sets etc were on the rear of the e91 and it scrubbed the insides of the tyres.
