I wasn't having any problems with my stock DV but was chasing a small boost leak and upgraded anyway. Didn't really see any changes in the logs. Good idea to have it for ps2 though

Do you have a sound clip video of it?

DV+ Is the go too solution for a diverter valve upgrade on the N55 platform.

Recently had a thread where we discussed the turbosmart diverter valve and it was established that with it's simpler design, the GFB DV+ was much more performant and efficient than the turbosmart.

The drawback of that diverter valve seems to be the constant howling sound it makes that some people do not like.

I will say not everyone experiences this howling. I ran mine for 20,000 miles and the only sound it made was the same sound you hear when they let off in the video above.

People say it sounds like a 2jz when you let off the throttle from boost. Would you say the same?

My Pure S2 setup sounds just like the camera car in the video. I have the DV+ set to sport (using the main spring). According to the instruction sheet for the N55 DV+, the progressive response to boost levels (opening and closing) caused by the main spring results in a change in off throttle response/sound that is not unusual or detrimental. The sound is common when the DV+ is combined with a larger turbo, aftermarket intake, or both.

The progressive operation of the diverter valve can throw code P2261, which can be ignored.

Right on. The use of the main spring makes it close progressively which induces this turbo flutter or chirping noise and it is completely normal with the DV+ (If your stock diverter valve does this noise, you have a compressor surge). With stock turbos you don't notice the noise that much, as said bigger turbos makes the noise way more obvious.

I think it is a combination of air intake and the valve that produces this howling noise. I personally have it and do not mind it.

It was my first thought after I installed my turbo. The sound was addicting when warming up my drag radials.

I just want to be clear that the video I shared is not mine or of any of my cars.

We were discussing the GFB sound issue in this thread and someone tried the Turbosmart DV. Here is the aquired feedback we got:

I hate my DV+, at medium throttle it howls away under the hood. While keeping my eye on the MHD gauges, I see that it howls when the boost is between 0.6 to 1.2psi roughly. It howls constantly while cruising on the highway, worsened by sport mode. I've tested and confirmed no boost leaks up to 23psi. I've checked the installation of the DV and it's fine. It howls with and without the main spring installed. I prefer no main spring. With the spring the on-off-on throttle response in the city was too aggressive for my taste. Sport mode alone provides this more aggressive behavior.

It's also causing compressor surge, both with and without the main spring. I am running a PS2.

There is a howling noise usually when the valve is combined with aftermarket air intakes as Injen and BMS. What there shouldn't be is compressor surge. I don't know how you determine that there is some compressor surge, but if it's because of the typical flutter noise that happens in that situation, you have to know that its an entirely normal sound of the GFB DV+ and doesn't point at all to a compressor surge. If on the other hand you have more acurate data to why the car might be surging then you have a real problem.

Physically, the DV+ valve was designed so it can't have any flaws unless some of its parts are physically damaged. The physics behind the way it works are extremely simple and cannot fail if installed properly since it would go against most pressure laws. This then means that you might have a problem with the solenoid portion of the diverter valve. Did you ever pull it out and tested it with a power supply to see if it works good and in a responsive manner? Maybe that would be a good step to try if you are having such problem with your valve.
