P205B is a frequent situation which a number of folks have solved with a cheap work-around involving wiring in a new thermistor either inside or outside the tank. Do a search on the forum and you should find the thread.

Any new issues you have had specifically relating to the active tank temp sensor? $2950 for new tank at an indy.

Well, good things do come to those who wait. Just got the letter from BMWNA saying the SCR Tank is now covered for 10 years/120k.
AND, those who have replaced the tank will be reimbursed. thank you BMW. |

I submitted my paperwork this morning. Parts warranty on the tank will run out 11/2017. The timing is good. And I hit 120,000 miles this afternoon.

Now I'm at 127k miles, and my replacement tank is throwing a code.
Does the replacement tank come with a new warranty or is it only covered by the original 120k/10yr? |

Talk to the dealer and have them talk to the factory rep. They may goodwill or cover part of the repair.

Well, that just f'n great. I just spent $1400 to replace the battery and alternator b/c the EGR coolant line broke and leaked coolant onto the alternator.
Now the SCR is on its way out AGAIN. And AGAIN out of warranty. I was able to get my dealer to goodwill me down about 1/2 price last time. But that was still about $1300 out of pocket (before the rebate check arrived) |

Yeah. The whole emissions system is a SNAFU in this car. It is not hard to fix (just replace the parts and code properly). It's just the parts are so expensive and unreliable.

Most M57Y SCR issues are fairly easy to diagnose and inexpensive to fix.
RTM & read this forum. Anytime one walk to dealer or INDY unfamiliar with SCR it will cost $$$$. For example, my 335d SCR delivery module failure was caused by incorrect SCR tank replacement assembly by the Bay Area BMW dealership All other parts are now available as OEM or OE in form of asking in this forum for a fraction of dealer price. The only cost exception is SCR cat itself. I got load of spare SCR parts from fellow forum member for price of shipping and a case of beer.
