Justin@mhd tuning review

So i got with Justin@mhd a few months ago for a bef tune for my 335i. It was my first time doing a etune on a car, he was was extremely understanding and patient. Each flash we did the car was getting more and more power to the point that it pulls like a freight train right now! I dont normally do reviews and such but i was just really happy with the whole process and wanted to share my experience. He is knowledgeable and was quick to answer any question i had, to the point where i was getting annoying to myself asking so many lol. If anyone needs any tuning work done to their car hit him up, you will not be disappointing.

Mods are below, and fuel is e50

Vargas stage 2 DBB turbo
Pure turbo inlet pipe
BMS intake
Active Autowerke FMIC
VRSF charge pipe
VRSF downpipes
M performance exhaust
550i clutch
BMS oil thermostat bypass
CDV delete
JB4 + Mhd Bef
N20 spark plugs
Area 74 O2 manipulator
Fuel it stage 2 LPFP + ethanol lines from tank to HPFP
Fuel it ethanol content sensor
Fuel it throttle body injection

since i know some will ask here is a 4th gear log. Had to stop around 6k as i run out of room fast.

What is your setup?

22psi to redline is pretty solid.

Justin is great. He's been tuning my stock turbo. Maxed out on 93 octane and moved on to e30 blend when we saw we weren't getting anywhere new. Throwing down some serious numbers that havnt been seen before for stock turbo n55!

If you don't mind me asking this, how much did it cost? If you prefer not to answer here then please provide a PM to me.

I'm looking for someone to a custom tune for me by the end of next month and right now I'm in between Buraq or Justin but I trying to compare the costs from each and see which of them think they can get me those serious numbers I'm looking for like you.

Please excuse/forgive me if I'm being too personal in asking the price.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info and log! Very interesting as there aren't many VTT stg 2's out there. You gained 32* IAT's and it wasn't even a full single gear pull. That is pretty alarming. The AA FMIC has a pretty good reputation, so I wonder if the VTT is just putting out that hot of air? It would be interesting if we could find someone with a PS2 and same FMIC and similar mods to do the same pull to compare. Car looks fun, enjoy it!

glad you are happy with your results. just curious, did you try the BMS BEF and if so, how is the etune different from the BMS BEF? more smooth, more timing, etc.

You have any logs from prior to the etune you could share?

No I had a jb4/ flash it! Cobb tune thingy. But I bought it like that and the car was not running 100% so much so that I got beat by a stock n54 with just a jb4. So I cannot tell you the difference, I can say with the flash it Cobb and jb4, mhd blows it out the water.. I will see if I can dig up some old logs. I was going to put the car on a local mustang dyno to see what it puts down but the car is actually for sale so I don't feel like spending money lol. I came from the evo world and and put down 400awhp on a mustang and I can say this car would eat it (if it could hook).

Indeed, i live in a very humid area which i am sure does not help but i agree with you though you would think they would be a little better.

This is the earliest log i can find. I can not tell you though if it was before we even did a flash or not i honestly cannot remember..

How many custom map revisions did you go through and how would you say your final custom map compares to the OTS maps? Thanks OP!

Starts off at $200 depending on turbo/mods. Stock turbos are $200

That's the custom tune price, not the price to buy the turbo.

I'm totally new to all this modding and tuning thing. So let me get this straight. Some of from what I am reading in this thread, some of you have a JB4, MHD BEF and a custom tune from Twisted Tuning. I don't know if I'm processing this the right way, or did you guys ditch one or both of your JB4 and/or MHD (BEF) off the shelf tune, for a custom tune.
