Right butif your vehicle fails emissions and you didn't have the work done BMW may give you a hard time about getting the work done when out of warranty. I said may. In anycase its silly to not get the work done. Worry worry worry...

I got the service engine light and P20EE code over the weekend, which may mean the NOx cats are not up to snuff. I'm taking the car in on Friday, so I will keep you all posted.

I'm from california and it says voluntary on mine although I'm debating on getting it. I think it'll help with my mpg as my tail pipes are pretty black and its saying 26.7mpg, which is sort of low comparing the results on this forum. I already had to get reflashed once for a recall and before that I had atleast 28mpg.
I just recently had to get my car smogged and it was different process than most times I had to get smog. Smog guy didnt plug anything in or put it on a dyno. All he did was open up a book and check something under the hood and that was it. |

I took my car for service two days ago and they informed me about the recall. So I just got a call from my service rep, and he told me they the car is ready, that they had to change the catalytic converter as part of the work. My car has less than 12k on it!! Still under warranty, he told me the part cost $1,840.00!! So glad I dont have to pay. I will pick the car up tomorrow morning and will report on how it drives after the reflash.

It is pretty sad about the dealership but maybe it is for legal issues that they don't reply. |

Because of the recall. I was really surprised, like I said my car has a little over 11k miles on it. Tails were really clean, no smoke or any indications of anything being wrong. We will see how it rides tomorrow.

My 335d was in the shop Monday and Tuesday for other reasons and I tried to have them do the recall as well. They had to order the EGR valve, and said the entire car would be getting a software update. They are suppose to call me when the part comes in. I wonder if they'll swap my cat converter too.

I took my car in yesterday. As I suspected, my car already has the latest EGR valve that's part of this recall - reference this thread from back in the fall when I had to have my EGR valve replaced http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=577143.
However, they still need to replace a valve. I couldn't quite make out what the SA said over the phone but I think it's the urea metering valve. Hopefully I'll have the car back before long, and hopefully there won't be any negative ramifications. |

So I got my car back this morning. They changed the catalytic converter and all hardware around it, EGR valve, and SCR metering unit and a hole reflash. Car runs smooth, did not notice any loss of power, however I dont know if just me but I remember my car having like a lot of engine braking upon lifting off the throttle, dont feel that anymore it is almost as if the car had less back pressure. Does anyone else knows what I am talking about? Maybe my cat was just bad. Like I said car is running well, hopefuly no more issues.
