Any news on the VANOS recall front?
I see some people are getting the bolts replaced at the dealer. I wonder what the holdup is- is the Midwest getting first dibs or something?

Yea it's weird. Still showing up as "Remedy not yet available" for my VIN on the website, SA says to wait another month or so, and no letter yet from BMW of America. Getting a bit annoying waiting lol.

The trouble becomes number one- finding a reputable dyno shop with a well calibrated dyno and number two- a baseline to compare it to, which I never did with my car |

I have been regularly calling or emailing my SA and not only don't they have the replacement bolts, she has no ETA. I might try calling dealers in Dallas/Houston and see if they have the bolts.

Received recall letter, which stated that bolt supply will dictate when they perform service... Needless to say, I'm still waiting... Wonder if my car is going into limp mode from over boost or possible a broken bolt... thankfully it resets after I power off the car.

I have two road trips coming up between ~250-350 miles each way for each trip within the next 45 days. Miiiight need to press my dealer for some answers. Granted, I know they can only do so much if the parts aren't in! How many miles are on your car, ntsthrilla? Also, where was it/the engine built? Thanks for sharing work order details, btw.

They were supposed to send me a second letter, but I haven't gotten it yet. I need an oil change in about 700 miles, so I'm just going to simultaneously schedule them.

Just called my dealership, BMW of Minnetonka in the Minnesota Twin Cities area. I honestly can't give these guys enough credit. This dealership has been phenomenal with their service all around (disclosure: I do not work for them nor do I have any personal friends who work there).
I first asked about the parts themselves and was directed to the parts department who confirmed they had received the parts and I was then directed to scheduling to make an appointment. I'm scheduled to have the recalled performed Monday, 9/29. Well before my upcoming road trips. Whew! Quoted work time on their records was between 4 hours to 2 days. I think the gap is so wide because maybe if there's more extensive damage from bolts actually busted, then it might take longer as opposed to if everything's fine and they just need to replace the bolts. I'll try to remember to ask if I can see the bolts they took out because the other massive thread has pics in one of the more recent posts comparing different bolt heads. (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=265) @Dark_Knight_335: this example at least confirms your theory as far as the upper midwest goes! Maybe BMW feels bad that we had such an awful winter last year... and that this year's is predicted to be pretty awful too.
