Made a few more changes to my car - mainly rebuilding the boot build myself to suit some changes I had come up with and wrapping the panels in alcantara, part of which was done by our very own Shaun (gaza01). Cheers man!
Anyways, I hope you guys like but as always comments and criticism all welcome. I'm now done from a looks perspective unless I go nuts on a few other CF bits. Next up for me is a few performance upgrades, nothing crazy.. |

Like it apart from the white lettering on the tyres. Rims are spot on though without a doubt.
Boot build looks good. I used to like doing this kind of boot build but then I now need a fully functioning boot LOL.

I'm aware many dislike the stickers. Sadly they lasted the best part of one journey before they ripped off - also it didn't help with the airing down as it aided in the short life of those measly stickers lol!

Looking very nice Sam. Agree with others re the tyre lettering.
That boot looks like you've got some chemistry going on in there with all the tubes! Like it. You always say nothing more but end up doing something major! |

Few updates since my last post...
I've made a new splitter to sit underneath my V splitter and I absolutely love it. The splitter itself is a sheet of ultra-lightweight, high performance carbon fibre sandwich panel and I paid a bang for it but IMO it was worth it! The flex of having air suspension means I can always raise the car over speed bumps and not incur any damage to the CF splitters - bonus! Approx. 300 miles ago I had my car over to Phil Crouch at CPC (Amersham) for Rod Bearings, High Pressure VANOS line and other related items. After speaking to a few specialist indy garages and getting prices, considering expertise, considering travel time and considering courtesy car, I decided to go with Phil and am I glad that I did. My bearings had done 69.8k miles and the car always used with 10w60 oil as it had always been under warranty before me. When I bought the car I scrapped the warranty as I planned to get things done to my OCD ways! I had done an oil analysis 2k back which I was told it looked fine, but comparing notes with others I was x4 worse off in my analysis figures so it was time. I wouldn't even wait for the analysis and just have them done for peace of mind in hindsight but most of my funds went on mods rather than maintenance last year so this year has mainly been about maintenance - clutch and flywheel and now rod bearings etc. When I got to my indy, he had 3 other S85s ALL, in for engine rebuild due to spun bearings between 60 - 73k - yikes! Glad is an understatement knowing I was there before a spun bearing as a preventative measure. I've kept the old bearings just to show the new owner if and when I sell the car. Also got a thumbs up that the VANOS pump was fine and a clean bill of health which put my mind at rest. These pumps alone are worth £3-4k but for the most part generally when these fail most people will get the pump removed if they can afford to but alot is to be said about these pumps, generally reliable. Its the pump motor that usually gives way and costs a fraction of the pump itself - hint to anyone who owns a V10... Had I not had them done soon, I was near enough catastrophic engine failure - see pic attached of the worst bearing form my bunch.... Work I had done included: - Rod Bearings using OEM and OEM bolts (BE Bearings were out of stock and also were £250 dearer) - HP Vanos line - Oil and Filter change - Diff Oil Flush - Transmission Oil flush Overall cost was so reasonable I don't know why I didn't get it done any sooner! |

Been a while since I last posted on here - so a bit of an update..
The last few months have seen some pretty big spending on the beast (nothing new there haha). CPC for the most part have been handling my maintenance but I've also made good friends with Brian from BM Remapping - found his details on insta and he's one of the few guys to still be working on the S85s as a mechanic and drive to work in his M5 with his tool boxes and ramps etc etc - crazy guy but amazing knowledge. Between CPC and BM, I've had the following works carried out. Preventative: - New battery (95ah AGM Bosch and registered) - Track rod assemblies - Control arm bushes - O2 sensors - Both Ionic modules - All coil packs - Upgraded Throttle Actuator gears as the OEM are made of plastic and over time the teeth degrade causing all sorts of problems Service Schedule: - Spark Plugs (NGK) Since my rod bearing change, I've done 2 oil changes as I'm abit OTT. From now one, I'll stick to 5k intervals for oil changes. I've also had a full 4 way hunter alignment/geo after the control arm bushes and track rod assemblies were replaced. She's really happy now touch wood and driving true! Last thing on my last for the short term is as follows: - Replace fuel pump - ordered - Replace fuel filter - ordered - Replaced both rubber door seals to freshen up things and if I have any money left over, get an interior deep clean detail - may just give this a go myself - how hard can it be!! Modification Update: As if spending on the above wasn't enough, I've just pressed buy on a set of Front and Rear Stop Tech BBK - 380mm all round (6 pot front, 4 pot rear). Absolutely buzzing to get them on so watch this space! |
