I highly highly highly doubt the IS350 does 0-60 in 4.3. I dont get whats this obsession with 0-60. If you ever drove the IS, the suspension is VERY cushy and body roll is pretty bad. Straight line, 335 vs IS350, pretty close. Add some curves, GG lexus

I have driven the IS 350 twice, and I have a G 35 (similar motor with similar characteristics to the IS 350). I also have a 335 i. IMO, an IS 350 is not in the same league as the 335 i (performance wise), or I would have purchased it instead of the 335 i.
There's no telling how someone got a single 0-60 time--amazing launch, wind, downhill, they're lying, ..... The car isn't as quick, as fast, doesn't handle as well as a 335 i. Nice car, though, and it has ventilated seats--a great option. |

0-60 is a very poor measurement of a car's capabilties. I suppose 0-100 would be better but I'm sure there are some legal issues there. I remember the 70s/80s when US car advertisements in magazines could only use 0-55.
It's not just an american obsession. It's the same in the UK although over there, top speed is nearly always quoted as well when discussing a car's performance. I guess because you can actually find public roads (Germany) to do it.

I've said this several times, and i'll say it again..
0-60 measures traction, 1/4 mile measures power, road course measures everything on the car...

Nope, sorry they Stock IS350 will never do those times. 4.3 seconds it a really fast car. The IS350 only comes automatic, therefore the lauch will not work. Launch M3 style (with LSD!!!), the heavier, less powered, automatic, with no LSD IS350 won't do it. Not even us with 335i can do it, and we have significantly more Tq numbers.

The IS350 sounds like a sewing machine while doing so, but it's got some serious scoot. Not 4.3sec 0-60 fast tho.
Don't worry boys, your 335s are dynamically better, and a few tenths faster than most of the IS350 0-60 times I've seen. But don't get it twisted...a well launched IS350 will surpirse you...but how many old ladies are going to out drag you right?! |

And people forget how restricted our cars are, to meet CARB regulations...
Free up some air via intake, down pipe, and exhaust to get the turbo spooling faster, along with Procede, not much is gonna touch you out there that doesn't have a ridiculous price tag...

Have you launched an is350 latley? Those are are very quick before 100 mph. There are people getting close to the same times in the 1/4 mile with a mph off in trap speed on the is350's. stock for stock its a drivers race in a straight line. Heres rflows stock time which seems to be the best on drag times right now as stock 335i's go. I also believe he used DR's also. 13.2 @ 104mph http://www.dragtimes.com/2007-BMW-335i-Specs-10490.html Heres a stock is350. Not sure if the tires were changed or not. 13.4 @ 103 mph http://www.dragtimes.com/2006-Lexus-...ecs-10599.html Dont knock the is350 until youve driven it. Or at least raced one. What do i got to do get a video of me vs one or something, to show you how fast they are?

People knock the IS350, but they are pretty quick. Looks like one with a intake and exhaust went 13.0x @ 105 on Hooiser R6s. Not too bad at all.

I drove the IS350 three or four times before I purchased the 335 (on the first test drive ). The IS350 certainly doesn't FEEL as quick as the 335, although feelings are sometimes deceptive. I am positive that my PROceded version is quicker than an IS350 According to Shiv, more gains are on the way as well.

Interesting, that IS350 posted the exact same 1/4 mile times vs both the 350Z and the E55. Coincidence or is the measuring equipment only capable of working in certain increments?

The IS350 is quick, average of around 13.7 stock, but easily .3ths off a 335i stock to stock, and a lot more when you start upgrading the 335. I thought about one before the 335 but you can't get a basic model, so the lowest price IS350 is 41k, my 335 auto was 39k. No comparo. |

yeah man, honestly, Toyota/Lexus have so much cash that if they want to compete in any segment, they will.
I to test drove the IS350...I pulled out of the lot and floored...and boy!!...it got the f*#@ up!! Torque and all that. I was impressed. But after a few minutes, it seemed to be a bit...hmm...souless. Too 'digital.' But then I drove the 335i, and honestly, it reminded me of a precision muscle car. Brute-in-a-suit. Its performance seem to flow and buzz like a living breathing acoustic thing. That did it for me. Got off topic a bit. Thanks for letting me wax a bit |

Damn, that E55 was fast. Wonder what kind of work was done to it. 119mph in the Qtr!. I have seen the IS350 listed in Road&Track at 4.9 0-60, and 13.5@103.1mph in the qtr mile. On the same summary they have the 335i listed at 5.0 sec. 0-60mph, and 13.5@104.5mph. So the IS350 gets a pretty good launch, and that is with an automatic. The 335i was a stick, and quite frankly, I think the magazine would have tested quicker 0-60mph with the automatic. But 0-100mph the 335i is .4sec quicker at 12.4sec compared to 12.7sec for the IS350, and my M3 is under 12 seconds.

P.S. Too bad you can't measure it with one number -- even a single Torque number doesn't tell the 335i's true story...
