ISOFIX Anchor Confusion (rear fitting) advice needed please

Hi folks,

Having done lots of Googling and searches on this and other forums, I'm still not sure if my 2006 320D SE has rear ISOFIX anchors fitted. Basically, I would like to know where they are and what should they look like? I can see two brackets at the back of the boot, one on each side. Are these the ISOFIX anchors or are they for some other boot accessory? Or do I have to take out the back seat to get to the anchors?

One post said that all BMW's have had them fitted as standard in the rear since 2002, though I haven't got a clue if this is true. I've also tried to find installation guides/close-up images etc, but without success. I guess a trip to my dealer would solve the problem, but thought this information would be easy to find on the web.

Can anybody please explain where and what the ISOFIX anchors look like, it'd be greatly appreciated?

Richard

in your back seats, there should be 4 small (match box side) plastic flaps.

these are the iso fix mounts, they open and the isofix seat base clicks in.

in the front passenger seat they are fully hidden but still there

Some (many?) e90's have the isofix clips but not the plastic guides. My 06 e90 is like this so they are not visible. You have to lift up the back cushion about an inch between the back and the bottom part of the seat to reach the the metal brackets. They look like giant staples and they are on both sides in the back.

Some baby car seats come with plastic guides to help keep the cushion out of the way.

It's a bit of a pain but it's worth it.

bobbba where does the harness that goes over the top go? Do you have the hooks on the rear parcel shelf bit behind the headrests?

isofix is simply to metal prongs that clip into the chassis of the car - there is nothing else to connect.

Thank you fellas!!

Brilliant! Found em!

jinjur - thanks for the info. I've definitely seen the plastic flaps in MINIs but not in an E90.

bobbba - thanks for this - I should've used a torch the first time I looked, then I'd have seen the 'giant staples'. Brilliant, thanks so much for solving this! Picture attached for anyone else looking for these.

RCUK - that's the exact seet/ISOFIX combination we've been looking at - they're Which Magazine's top choice too.

Thanks folks, problem solved!

We've got the maxi cosi cabriofix baby seat and the easifix base as well. Works really well. Just watch for what you are buying if it's online as there's an easyfix base(isofix) and an easybase(seatbelts) and they are easily mixed up.

You can pick them up on Ebay as well although obviously check thoroughly for any defects.
