Andrew
was just looking at the pdf instructions for the crd-t box. On the tuning part it states that moving the jumpers on the right increases or decreases the power, but what do the different programmes on the left do? Thanks Richard |

The jumpers on the left allow you to chose between 4 different "maps"
I had my 320D with the CRD-T on a rolling road last week and tried all 4 maps. Basically the shape of the torque curve across the rev range changes, bit more power at lower engine speeds or bit more at the top end. It just depends what power delivery you want. Jason |

Thanks Andrew,
received the plug n' play Red Box for my e90 318d this morning..............plugged it in this afternoon and will play ( hopefully ) all the way to Scotland tomorrow evening. I already have one of your magic boxes fitted to a 2010 Cherokee. The results have been excellent so I am very optimistic. Will keep you posted. Sven |

Hi,
I have a e90 330d 245PS and am thinking about the CRD-T dual channel system. Would be interested to learn experience from anyone who has fitted one or other DTUK Chips to a similar model as mine. @Andrew@DTUK.co.uk: I have viewed the installation PDF and it seems to be fairly straightforward. Is there anything else not mentioned? What is the discounted price? Thanks. Last edited by Rodc; 07-20-2010 at 03:04 AM.. |

just a quick update. On the factory setting ( no. 7 ) there was a slight improvement through the lower gears, but little improvement in 5th & 6th. Turning the adjustment to setting no. 8 gave a better improvement in the lower gears and a slight improvement in 5th & 6th. Turning the adjustment to setting no. 9 has totally transformed the car throughout all the gears with no need to change down constantly on motorways to overtake or up long inclines. In fact the car will now accelerate in sixth gear comfortably and quickly ( just as you advised it would ). No exhaust smoke and a slight improvement in mpg. Is there room for further improvement or am I now on the optimum setting? Sven |

I fitted a DTUK Green Box to my E90 318d (122ps) at the weekend and currently have it set to No.8: -
Negatives: It's raining outside Positives: It's all positive! MPG has gone from a combined of 42.1 up to 50.4 although I am driving around the lower revs a lot more, but that's only because I can now... power delivery is much smoother and instantaneous, yet still refined. Before the DTUK box was fitted the power delivery was a little vague. I was very sceptical about whether this was going to work, having contemplated a re-map or a tuning box for ages now, the only regret I have is not buying one sooner! Personally I don't think that there's any point shelling out so much for a remap as you can't take that over to your next car, however you can with the tuning box. Well done to Ze Germans for making this product and well done Andy for distributing/fine tuning it I might even whack it up to 9, however I'm extremely happy with it the way it is... How can you have more power AND lower fuel consumption?
I'm assuming you are not messing with the valve timing so the only things you can change are the turbo boost pressure and the amount of fuel injected. You can get more power than standard by burning more fuel; that's easy just increase the boost pressure and inject more fuel. But this will increase your fuel consumption. You may be able to get lower fuel consumption than standard by injecting less fuel and encouraging more leisurely acceleration but this would also mean less power for a given rpm setting. Injecting more fuel without increasing the boost pressure - and therefore the amount of air in the cylinder to oxidise the fuel isn't going to give you more power, just more unburned fuel and more soot or carbon monoxide. |

Yes we add more fuel, and yes we do see improved fuel economy.. The extra fuel takes advantage of the over supply of air in the chamber, which increased power. If this extra power is used correctly then this is were the savings are seen as people arent having to change gear as often.. Ive sold 6,000 of these units now, and id say that at least 90% of people have reported fuel savings. |

318d Box Suitable for BMW X1?
Hi Andy,
I have been singing the praises of DTUK to a work colleague who is currently driving a BMW X1 S Drive 18d which has the same engine as in my e90 318d except the standard torque figure is 320Nm against my 300Nm. He has asked to try my Red Box and I am happy to oblige as it is only a few minutes job, but am unsure whether it will be suitable for the more powerful engine version. Can you please advise? Thanks, Sven |
