It's time for my first oil change! I'm gonna take it to my indy but I have to buy the oil myself. Where do you guys buy yours? I would prefer a shop in Richmond if possible.

Edit: I just ordered Liqui Moly 5w40 ($37 for 5l) from Amazon.com. Thanks for all your suggestions!

Usually it's $25 per jug in the states and you'll need 1.5 jugs. I would strongly suggest going with M1 0W40 !

I think it was $25 for a big jug and $7 for a 1 litre bottle was enough, for Mobil 1 0w-40 if I recall correctly. I've noticed that this oil doesn't burn at all, I haven't had to top it up ever since I've replaced the oil.

Compared to Canadian tires for crappier stuff for like $60. Go to lordco after and pick up a Mann filter for $12 that's OEM stuff.

hey man, that's exactly what I had noticed too. I'd been checking my oil during the entire OCI, and it's still full. Been using this oil for years and loving it !

huh =/ if that is true i might just switch to M1 0W-40. I have always used Motul and it burns. Not at a very fast rate but enough to bother me. Usually will go from full to required filling every 10k km or so. But i have recently started doing a oil job every 7.5k km. keeps things fresh xD (i know its sorta over kill too especially with motul xD)

Because i use motul, i always purchase my oils online. always the cheapest. With M1, walmart at $25 for 5 quarts/litres seems like the best deal. Just go pick up three for $75, good for two and a little bit more oil changes. save you the trouble in driving back down every year (if you're not a frequent US go-er). Have fun with your first oil change!!

If M1 European formula isn't the most robust oil like it used to be, it's still the best bang and best quality oil I can get off the shelf. But I'm sure there's lots of follower out there that would disagree. Sure motul and other high end oil could perform equally well, it would cost double or triple the price of M1. Another thing is, if your rings are toasted, doesn't matter what oil u use and it will disappear !

Canadian Tire has periodic sales on Castrol Syntec for $7.79/l. The 0W-30 is the infamous "German Castrol" and is LL-01.

I think it's funny people stay away from brands that are already high end for 99% of applications (Mobil 1 and Castrol which are recommended by makes like BMW and Porsche), and go for other brands that market themselves as boutique high end oils. Maybe if you're racing your car all the time... Or going tons of miles between changes, but otherwise, I don't buy it.
