As You already have faults in memory, Your car is unable to regenerate the filter. It would be best to get a laptop with diagnostics and go for a ride. As long as filter is clogged, You won't be able to delete these faults. So , as instructions say, You have to go for a long ride so that continious regeneration takes place. Then exhaust pressure drops and You will be able to delete these faults. And only then with diagnostic software You can request to make a full regeneration and it will be ok.

Double check to see if a 335d DPF would fit and work, James off here is selling 1 that's 2 years old and done 25k for £250, bargain at that price.

i have the same problem every winter, light comes on in colder months not sure why and tends to go off when weather warms up.... i have heard sometimes the ecu software is too strict on the parameters to do a regen, i have read somewhere BMW have updated the software to relax the parameters but i haven't updated it or know if this is true....

went for a run last night, dpf light came on a few times, but noticed on Carly that the soot mass has come down from 79 to 60, so will go for another run later

Just got back from another run, dpf light never came on this time, and the soot mass went down to 47, then went back up to 58 by the time I got in so hopefully it's working

Ok............
Time for update, As you all know I had this DPF problem, Tried all sort of things, even Terracleaned but no luck, I took my car back to the garage told them no change what so ever after terraclean. Garage owner asked me to leave the car overnight they will manually clean the DPF which they did I know it's not the right thing to do, But it has sorted the problem out, They cleaned it with chemical and jet washed it, Wow now the car is performing like a beast never ever felt my car so responsive done few trip on the motorway , Loving it.. No more error's either on the dash.. Since i had this problem I did not even felt like to clean/wash the car.. Today i got my car washed going to wax & polish it tomo, As i had other few things to do today.. Here is a small video they made while cleaning, He forwared it to me I thought I'll upload it on Youtube to share with you guys. I will take some proper pics later once it's waxed and polished... Make sure to keep an eye on the engine temps in the future As you've found out running cool for a long period of time can block the dpf. Alls well that ends well.

I'm not sure on exactly what DPF technology you have but I believe most are closed cell and therefore water won't pass through without blowing the cells open.
I could be wrong but I don't think water was the way to go... |
