Jules great write up.

Car does look like it will perform better than ever. Must be very satisfying working with the tuner to turn an already powerful car into a more powerful one.

Well done Sal and Jules.

I think i once had a 360ish map from DMS. It only stayed on a day as it went into limp 4 times, but it was a heck of a lot faster than my current 344bhp so i can only imagine this is what you now have Jules (360ish), Absoutely AWESOME....

Sal, do you think if you got mine to 355-360ish bhp mine would go into limp home again?

Is there anyway of losing the limp mode at all?

Again well done Evolve and Jules.

Jules,

your car made 340-345. The other map with the same sort of torque as your origional made but more BHP. It's around an extra 10bhp. Hence around 355.

Hi Carlos,

we can avoid the limp mode but it's not the best of ideas to remove it altogether.

We can give you what Jules has. It won't go into limp mode.

I can even give you more BHP with the same torque you have now.

Sorry mate, I missed your static reference point of 2k RPM and thought you'd mixed up the BHP & Torque as the torque is 340 at 2k and the BHP is 340 at Peak!!

Sal's explanation explains why...

Looks like I'll be giving Sal a call soon!!

Or even better maintain the high torque I currently have on the new map and mate it to the bhp curve from the other map......Let me know when you've sorted that map and I'll give it a go.

Jules.

Shouldn't be a problem.

I can add another map to the list - 355 BHP / 730 NM

Holy Moly!

Jules.. that mate is a kind offer. I'm in Wakey, work just off J46 on the M1, and will be happy to meet up at a mutual time.

Not this weekend as it's my anniversary weekend and I'm away with the Mrs in a nice Hotel.... away from the kids..... enjoying the peace... **cough**

Excuse me but could a 330d-boy barge in here?!?!?

Without going through all the figures (it's obvious Sal can do whatever the customer wants) I've got a manual car. When you guys are taking about the sensible 'load' on the auto box can you get away with more or less with a maunal car.

Think this issue has been raised before however would appreciate Sal's expert opinion.

Oh go on, whet my appitite - what can you 'sensibly' squeeze out of a manual 330d ('06' 231hp/369ft/lb) without worries of limp mode???

335D is auto only cos the 330D manual box will not take the torque...however as long as you don't habitually launch it down the down from standstill you can raise the bar from standard figures.

700NM is deemed sensible for the 335D

serious tempted by the Evolve re-map....got 1st service due in 1200 miles so straight after that methinks. Maybe a set of the BMW performance brakes to go with the extra urge.

One of the reasons I went with Evolve is that they were flexible and I wanted a bit more than the 'standard' map offered by others (my 330D is now 280bhp and 660Nm)

Question

Hi, Sal@Evolve!

Do you think it's possible to do a 335d with 368hp and 740Nm without limp mode?

http://www.p-tronic.co.uk/index.php?...onFilter=29789

What your opnion about this box?

Regards,

Surely that's not possible. 368bhp and 15% better fuel economy from a tuning box? A remap is always better than a tuning box. 740nm of torque is way to much for a standard box.

Agreed.

On the website it states that the BMW ECU safety features aren't exceeded......so how does a "box" control this and from the figures quoted they would have to be exceeded, either that or the box doesn't actually make those high figures. At the cost a remap is a much better option.

I believe 370ish bhp is possible. But I wouldnt personally want to use a tuning box.

Hi,

We don't think it's really possible without limp mode.

How do we know?

We've already tried it on a 535d eariler this year

I have no opinion on this box. I don't know how this particular one works. Generally, they are very crude. There are few which you can programme but it's never going to be as good or as comprehensive as a well developed remap.

When we get someone in to use our dyno to test one we'll let you know how it went.
