The Remus does sound like an Animal but its just too much attention for the same gains.....

We offer 2 versions, SPORT which is TUV approved and very quiet and the RACE, not available in Europe!

Good to know, well it was definitely the Race version that I heard then......

It would be interesting to here the TUV approved Sport System. Are the gains less? Any clips? (I know a vid isn't the same as hearing it in real life but if there's a clip going around i'll have a listen)

Out of interested why do you not supply the Race Version to the European market?

Thanks

Hi Sal,

Was the REMUS exhaust a TUV approved (sport not race) system ? I'm gagging to change mine to increase the sound, but don't want it too loud so I have problems at track days.

If you could PM me with some fitted prices for Remus and Tubi... I might write to Santa this afternoon +++

My stock exhaust registered 97db at Snetteron and the sound limit was 105db. I expect most aftermarket exhausts are louder than stock...

Update and HELP!!!

OK, my car has now had it's 1st visit to Birds and all has not gone smoothly.

Firstly, Hartge couldn't supply the TUV approved exhaust and only had the Export version - given that I don't want the car to be too noisy I'm waiting for the TUV approved one which should be here and fitted Christmas week.

What I did have done was the remap - this was not really advertised as a power increase but merely as a speed limit removal. However, Kevin did expect a power increase and even he was disappointed with a 5bhp increase. Obviously I can tell no difference in ther car but he is going to try a different map when he fits the exhaust but again, on a NA car I'm not expecting miracles!

I will update all when the exhaust is fitted!

Now, of more concern were the results of the rolling road. The one Kevin took the car to (3 times as he tried different maps!) could only get a RW figure of 328bhp in 3rd gear as standard. Now, I'm really not an expert at these things but if I assume a 15% drivetrain loss then this doesn't even reach 400bhp!

So, some expert opinion please:
Have I assumed the correct % of drivetrain loss and is it really likely that my car has this little power? (It certainly doesn't feel like it!)Do you think the rolling road was incorrect and if so, can anyone suggest one which will be accurate

I am obviously not too happy at these figures so any serious help would be appreciated!

First option would be to try a different dyno. Surrey rolling road is highly reccomended but a fair trek from Loughborough. Chipped UK (Bromsgrove) also have a dyno dynamics and were really good with me when I had problems with the DMS map not performing.

TBH `tho, your not that far off the mark. If claimed output is 415ish, with a 15% drivetrain loss you`d see around 350 at the wheels. So about 5% out.

mate forget what everyone says, your car will have more than 15% losses.

Also some cars will come out of the factory down on power some up on power mate thats life.

one may make 420bhp another 399 etc.

Go to several R/R places and see what you get.

Some places will make the readings high anyway. Just so you go away happy, but do you really want that. Least Kevin stuck it on and fed you no Bullshit.

hmm. I'd get the RR dyno done somewhere else.

Kevin is brilliant and I'm a big fan, but I think the place he uses might not even be able to take a 400bhp car.

Certainly when he helped us organise a dyno shootout, the dyno shop (not affiliated to Birds note) admitted that they did not have the capacity to even get close to 400bhp.

I'd second the suggestion for "Surrey RR"

Also note that getting an M car into dyno mode can be tricky to say the least...

With regard to target power I'd be sceptical on getting much out of a map... 10 to 20 bhp would be GOOD I think.

These Engines are seriously tuned to start with.. You'll get some power from fixing the Flat spots the engineers would have had to work in to pass emissions etc - but I doubt this will improve peak power, just smooth the curve.

They'll be opportunities to push timing if you can ensure a higher grade of fuel... NEVER run shit fuel, even once or it can ruin the trims for ages. Seriosly I get instant Limp mode if I even dribble in £10 of normal Green !

Be interesting to see where these go... I think the turbo's will have the edge though for the foreseeable future, until some serious hardware mods come in. (a la Bolt on SuperchargerS!)

Thanks for the responses so far - it's made me confident that I've chosen thr right tuner and that I should be going to another rolling road!

I'll be trying that and we'll see what Kevin can come up with when it goes in for the exhaust in a coupe of weeks.

Sorry to hear the start of your upgrades hasn't been as expected.

Like others have said, I'd try another RR. Give EVOLVE a call, as Surrey RR is the wrong side of London for you. They did my car recently and I really believe they don't "massage" the figures either. Beofre mine was done, all the E92 M3's they had previously had developed between 395bhp and 411bhp. All dyno's will produce slightly different figures, so it's important to get a second opinion. Evolve also took great car in making sure the temperatures were all as they should be (aparently this is how a lot of high figures get achieved).

Gear train losses for my car were calculated by the Dyno, so RWHP was 347.6bhp with a calculated 426.1bhp at the flywheel. This was achieved in 3rd gear.

Might be worth going to a RR that have done a few E92 M3's, so you get a realistic result.

We'll see how it does on that and then the exhaust comes in two weeks!

Kevin did two RRs with the guy he uses both before and after the remap and the increase after the remap was just 5bhp. But obviously those RR results were nothing like Evolve managed to get so I dunno how accurate the '5 bhp' increase is.

No wonder I can't tell any difference tho...it would probably make 5bhp extra on a cold day!

However....the one thing I should now have is a car that'll now go as fast as it can (it should be delimited) but I won't be finding that out till I go to the 'ring again sometime next summer and can have a play on some motorways well out of the way of the UK plod!
