Oil leak

G’day all. I have a 2006 330i with an oil leak that is proving to be very hard to locate. There is a large amount of oil accumulating around the aircon compressor and on top of the water pump/ thermostat. All the common oil leaks have been fixed within the last year( rocker cover gasket/oil filter housing gaskets) I have even replaced the cam chain tensioner. Have any of you had this problem.

Clean it, put dye in the oil. It’s real easy to locate at that point

Check the check valves for the VANOS solenoids. They are located in the cylinder head, in the front, above the water pump. Maybe a pervious owner replaced them and did not properly reinstall one of them.

2006 has a metal cover, not cheap plastic. It doesn't crack...

It does corrode though, and doesn't like to be sanded. So if it isn't flat, it will leak but it is unlikely to be the cause of this leak. Check also the cam sensors to make sure they aren't leaking at their orings. Check underneath the motor oil cooler as it isn't visible at a glance. You will need to take the black plastic cover off
