Carly, bimmercode or others
Hey people, so I'm about 4 weeks into owning my first bmw. 2011 318d wasn't exactly the best example when I bought it but I'm working on that bit by bit. Fell in love with how it drives, but it's got its issues. It's not got I drive and as much as anything I'm wanting to make sure I don't miss a dpf regen as I had to replace it after a couple of weeks since it was blocked to high heaven (to the point it had melted the cat/cat like thing Infront of it and it looked like cheese on toast) Anyway I'm wanting to be able to diagnose codes etc (and do a bit of simple coding myself) but mainly find and fix problems early on. I've heard of Carly and bimmercode not sure if there are any others of note? I'd welcome any advice on what to go for pros and cons etc. Thanks in advance

Protool. A bit spendy, but at least it's not a subscription. Nice and easy to use, and good support.
DeepOBD - free, but not very user friendly. INPA & ISTA & NCS etc etc... Free, does everything. Total headf*ck to use...but plenty tutorials and help on the forum. |

So basically Protool is decent and easy to use. Since I'm a newbie to this sort of stuff I don't want to accidentally stuff it up. Thanks for the advice I'll get one ordered in the coming weeks maybe months depending on what happens with the whole Coronavirus thing.

Let us know how you get on Oliver. I'm thinking about Protool as well and would appreciate knowing about your experience...

I'll let you know Phil, I'm in north Derbyshire so I'll post on this thread when I've got it and my results. On that note when I have got it since it seems to work on most bimmers if anyone is up this way and wants a play with it I'll gladly let them. ✌️

Thanks for the offer mate and I may take you up on it at a later date depending on how this protool goes, currently everything I have is apple anyway. Gonna have to get a new tablet and give protool a go. Thanks again for the offer

That's a shame, that said I think protool is definitely the better one to go with
