ISTA-P missing conversions?

Good afternoon all,

My door contacts are not working anmore (all four doors) of my E70 from 2010, and I already tried replacing the FRM and also replacing the complete door locks. I also measured the wiring, which is also ok.

I discovered on the internet that this error can be caused by a coding error. There is a service bulletin of BMW about this. Please see below.

I have ISTA-P versin 3.66, but I don't have the conversion option mentioned in the service bulletin. How can I obtain this conversion?

Thanks in advance and best regards Hendrik

Vehicles produced from August 31, 2009 to March 31, 2012

SITUATION

One or more of the following situations can occur:

1. While the vehicle is in motion, a CC (Check Control) message in the KOMBI (instrument cluster) indicates that the doors are open, even

though they are closed. In addition, a warning gong sometimes sounds, along with the interior lights turning on and off. This can affect all the doors.

2. The battery is discharged due to the FRM3 (footwell module) constantly waking the vehicle.

These situations can occur intermittently. The following fault code memory entries may also be present in the FRM:

- 0x9CBC - short-circuit or break in circuit in front door contacts, and/or
- 0x9CBD - short-circuit or break in circuit in rear door contacts

CAUSE

A coding error in the FRM3 is causing incorrect door contact detection.

[NEW] PROCEDURE

1. Perform a vehicle test using ISTA/D (Integrated Service Technical Application, Diagnosis) and complete relevant test plans for any FRM fault

codes that are stored.

Note:

When the ISTA system message displays: Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger. Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.

2. Perform the conversion "Activate threshold change door contact" with ISTA/P 2.46.0 or higher. The HO word "SWTK" will be added to the

VO.

Note:
After this conversion is added to the measures plan, finish the programming/coding procedure by accepting the measures plan and following the instructions as indicated in ISTA/P.

Well I don't know how to do it with ISTA P. But it's easy with BMW Standard Tools

1. Update FRM with winkfp to latest datens.
2. FA WRITE +SWTK to the FA in CAS and FRM
3. Code FRM to default FA with Expert mode profile
4. Check status of: SNU_TK_ABFRAGE_OHNE_PULSE change of necessary. (In FRM Coding (NCS Expert).

Thank you very much for the information. This modification was succesfull, but it did not help unfortunately...

- I changed the locks, (3 pieces)
- I checked the wiring (continuity between connector on lock and FRM connector)
- I changed the FRM-unit and coded it again,

but everytime I get the error that all door contacts cannot be read, and in ISTA-D additional information is given that all door contacts have a short circuit.

I'm puzzled again... does any-one know how to solve this problem?

Thanks again for all the responses!

Best regards Hendrik

I'll check for you.

Yes, I checked that SNU_TK_ABFRAGE_OHNE_PULSE = activ with NCS expert.

I have been thinking and can it be that the errors:

09CBD FRM: short circuit at rear door contacts
09CBC FRM: short circuit at front door contacts

must be reset before it will work again (similar to short circuits in the lamps)?

If so, how do I do this? I have been looking in the menu of Tool32, but I cannot find the right command...

Thanks again!

Ok, try setting it to nicht_aktiv

I don't think it's short circuit counter. You switched FRM and still the same. It's likely to be the coding error described in the SIB.

Hi all,

Problem solved:
the
SNU_TK_ABFRAGE_OHNE_PULSE = aktiv
needed to be:
SNU_TK_ABFRAGE_OHNE_PULSE = nicht_aktiv

Thanks Sensible!

All the door contact are functional now, but the FRM unit keeps throwing the errors:

- Short circuit in front door contacts
- Short circuit in rear door contacts

I'm happy that the door contacts work fine now, so these errors are not that important now. I assume that these errors come up because the original software is not familiar with the modification.

It is all starting to come together now!

Best regards Hendrik

Thanks

Thanks Sensible for the info. It got my FRM functional again after I foolishly updated it through ISTA P.

I'm curious why SNU_TK_ABFRAGE_OHNE_PULSE isn't set to nicht_aktiv when default coding. I would have though adding SWTK to VO would have fixed that.
