Suprised nobody has mentioned C&C. Anyone going? Doesn't hurt to ask, anyone just so happened to be selling a radar detector? Thinking about buying one at Fry's, maybe a Whistler.

Cars n Coffee for me too. Look for Tomato on the dash of a German car and I'll be close by.
Craigslist Passport/Escort or Valentine One Radar I wouldn't bother with a Whistler or Cobra. Even used the Escort or V1 100x better than all others. Tomato

I'm back . Ordered a cf lip and a couple of goodies for the car. I neglected it enough for the ruckus (but 100mpg and being so fun is so hard to ignore) haha. Dan, Stephen told me you wanted a ruckus also? Haha.
And oh yeah C&C I'll be there!

Talk about a crazy show. Pulled up about 7:06 AM then waited in a 15 min long line to finally make it in. Ended up invading the American car side of the show called it Attack of the Germans!! Nice cars, nice crowd and beautiful weather. Couldn't ask for a better show day.

Hey man, were you on the ruckus yesterday around 7:00 ish in my 'hood? Saw a scooter gang () and one of the guys had a modded white ruckus. I know I've seen your car in the area but didn't know if that was you on the ruckus. This was in Creek Hollow off North Star.

Howdy
New to the forums and popping in to say howdy. I'm a long-time BMW fan and am about to purchase my first Bimmer since I left my 1983 3231 (with M Sports Package) in Germany in 2000. Since that time I've scrimped and saved and suffered through lesser cars while I waited for the day when I could once again own a BMW. Oh I've had the financial means to get a BMW for quite some time, but I wanted to wait until I could own and drive a BMW the way I want to; read a BMW that is fully paid for and thus leaves me free to mod/repair as needed.
At any rate I'm on the market for a new (to me) BMW. Looking to keep the price under $38,000 all in. That being the case I'm looking closely at the 2010 and 2011 335i, 2008 and newer M3 and a few 6 Series from the 2006-2008 MYs. One thing that has come as a massive shock to me is the small number of manual transmission BMWs to be found. I've found that BMWs with manual transmissions make up about 5%-15% of those being sold on Autotrader, cars.com, et al. Now I expect to see a bunch of automatic transmissions when looking at Mini Vans and Cadillacs, but in a driver's car like a BMW Coupe I was expecting the number cars with a manual transmission to at least be north of 25%. It really saddens me that so many people don't love driving. How sad it must be for driving to work to take on the same feeling as taking out the trash or doing the dishes, but I digress. I would like to poll the collective wisdom of this forum in general and North Texas members in particular for insight regarding my upcoming purchase. Some questions that come to mind are: 1. Has the MFFP on the 2010 335i proven to be anymore reliable than the previous iteration? 2. Does the N55 Engine also have a bevy of MFFP and injector failures or are those issues more exclusive to the N54? 3. Do the coil-packs on the 335 fail as frequently as they do on Audi/VW models? The car I loved the most (since the old BMW) was a 2001 VW Jetta WE with the 1.8T engine. I lost my love for that car once replacing coil packs became a bi-monthly exercise. 4. Have there been any major issues reported with the Naturally Aspirated V8s in the 2008 M3s and 650s? 5. The traction control in my old VW was useless during flash flooding (the only time I really wanted to use it), how do the 335s handle the rain and flash flooding? 6. I have few sweet spots where I like to drive (the smooth, winding, tree canopied roads of Argyle in Denton County for one) any advice on good places to put the handling of a BMW through it's paces? Thanks in advance for any insight y'all can provide. |
