MP3 US CARS SEPTEMBER PRODUCTION

I just check my car (330xi US Specs), and I confirm that I can play mp3 songs in both the in dash cd slot and dvd slot, as also in the cd changer at the trunk.

Software version 19.2

I read one or two posts the last two days, about this but none of them cover the ‘’scenario’’ of both cd – dvd slots and cd changer at the trunk, and I thought that it will be a good idea to “share” my knowledge with other members of the group. If the subject was already answered and covered, probably I didn’t notice, or, I lost a couple of threads about it. Sorry.

Concerning the 19.2 version of the software yes, it’s new, (in another thread I remember some one has already mentioned about it.). Version 19.2 fixes some small bugs of previous versions.

Hey, I appreciated your post tsopanakos. I can't get enough info on this. Me and a bunch of other people on this site are still looking to get our iDrive pre-october built e90 updated to play .mp3's.

How did you know your software was 19.2? Was that an update or did you pick it up that way? Thanks.

My car came out to life with software version 19.1. During the installation of the CD changer (October 17th) the software was updated to 19.2.

I have a German friend from the University years, who works now as production engineer in BMW Munich. He was kind enough to provide me with info’s about the initial version of the software.

One more last thing. The CD changer can perfectly read tag info for the title songs. CD slot not. An upcoming software update, probably, he will fix that problem to.

Does you friend know or could you ask him if pre-September production cars could play MP3 in the cd slot with the upcoming software?

just picked up my car from the update. the update they put in was 19.2

Havent checked the MP3 yet, but i will when i get a chance.

mBechara I'm in a Business trip in Far East. I will be back (probably) next week and I will give a call to my friend. I'm curious, also, about that problem with the info tag for the mp3 songs in cd slot

Which program did you use to write the files to cd?
From my experience, the Windows XP drag-and-drop cd writing wizard works quite well and easily.

Otherwise, if you're using programs like Nero or Roxio, then you have to choose Joliet file system AND mode 2: cdrom xa.
