First three things you did after you got your car..

I am taking delivery in January after an ED drop off in November. What did you do first upon picking up your car?

EM plastic covering?
Residential Parking?
Parking Space (there is street parking in my area)?
Something else?

First time car owner in the Bay Area
Platinum Bronze E93

Thanks,
DA

i would highly HIGHLY avoid the street in SF. Unless you like nicks and scratches all over the bumper, It's a given, living in the city that you'll get em. If you can't avoid it, just be a lil careful.

I remember when i first got the car, I took it home to wash it and then just looked at it and said...hell with it...here comes the mods.

Driving in SF is a PITA, I know, I'm all over the city.

First thing I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you to do is clear bra your car. IMO, it's well worth the investment, pays off in the end. Your probably going to do a lot of freeway driving, as well as the city streets so rock chips are pretty much unavoidable.

For clear bra & other necessities I recommend going to a local shop in the city.

Thanks SES, can you recommend one? I have Platinum, so I don't anticipate the issue of potential yellowing to impact me.

Sounds right.. I'm all about making the whip look unique, but this is my first car (nYc transplant) and I am not sure which ones. I kinda like the areo kit (front more than back) and really like the M-6 rims-- though it seems like it would be difficult to get the same staggered setting as my ZSP (18x8 in front & 18x8.5" in the back)-- So I was thinking about making that change when I have to replace my tires.. thoughts..?

They use Venture Shield. I just had mine done last week from them. A few others have as well. Great work and they take their time. Also, the good thing is that they go over the edges. Unlike some that stop just before the edge, they wrap around it so it's seemless and invisible.

yup, what EVO said. Other guys on here have got their cars done at Mach as well. Job is very well done, can't see any of the lines, looks like nothing is there.

+1 on the front aero lip.

As for wheels, you can get almost anything you like. Upgrade to 19's if your budget allows it and you can go staggered as well. 19x8.5 F and 19x9.5 in the rear.

It just seems a waste to me to buy new tires when the ones on the car are untouched! I just have 700 miles from my ED. If I could just replace the rims and sell the ZSPs I would, but if i have to buy new tires with the larger rims, then I figure I might as well get some use out of the current tires and swap rims when I need to replace the tires in 2 years. Thoughts?

Sorry missed the Mach III plug. I will do so.. how much did you pay? Should I get the front and the back taken care of?

Thanks!

Surprised no one mentioned tinting..

I have never seen it on a Platinum bronze... but I imagine 30% wouldn't look so bad.. thoughts?

Ripped out the cheap interior and installed Black CF trim, took out the garbage 16's and installed my 19' HP Evo's, installed the chrome tips and now looking to lower the car and install my Xenons.

Heck, for that price I would rather get the Dinan ECU upgrade and live with minor wear and tear. I just don't see the clear bras being that effective in the bay area when it only covers 1/4 of your hood. I get hit a lot more on my windshield and upper part of my hood more often. I have two really minor nicks and they are all in spots where clear bra would not protect. The only way to protect yourself in the bay area is to have a full custom-cut clear bra on your car, covering every panel.
2k is outrageous!!!

Mach iii does custom wraps and not precut for the e90/e92. They actually make all the cuts while they're applying the clear bra. So basically they use one big piece of film and custom fit it to your car.

I learned that with precuts, they don't take into account that when you heat it up it shrinks, hence leaving the edges exposed. With a custom bra it can be tailored to go around the edges.

I completely agree. Alot of people run their runflats out first before getting new rims. But when you switch over to non runflats it's a huge difference in ride quality and handling of course. RFTS tend to be stiffer due to the sidewall and they don't absorb the bumps as well.

When i bought new rims and tires, i had two punctures in two tires, so it only made sense to just go ahead and upgrade rather than pay for two tires that cost around 400 each.

are the tires the cause for the bumpy ride or is it the zsp package.. at first, I couldn't believe I paid 1500 for a bumpier ride!! I got used to it quickly though... would be nice to have the M6s...
