Shutdown procedure
I just picked my car on on Tuesday night. Things are great so far but I haven't had a lot of time to acquaint myself with the various systems.
I figure that I'm doing something wrong but when I go to turn the car completely off I have to push the Start/Stop button twice: once to shutdown the engine and the second time to turn off the accessories like the radio. Is this normal? If I just push the Start/Stop button to shutdown the engine and get out of the car will the accessories turn themselves off on their own? I don't want to experiment and end up with a dead battery. This is my first BMW, by the way so if they do things a little differently I'm still learning. |

This is normal. You really don't have to press the start/stop button twice...just remove the FOB, the acessories will go off.

i don't have CA, but it looks like you're doing the right thing.
mine is like the others. push once to turn off the engine, and then just take out the key fob.

Here are you options with comfort access:
1) HOLD start/stop button for 2 second...everything shuts off. 2) PRESS start/stop button, engine shuts off. Press it again, electronics shut off. 3) PRESS start/stop button, engine shuts off. Get out of car and lock car w/ door ridges, electronics shut off

I did the get out and lock the door by touching the handle procedure and I can confirm that it shut all of the electronics off inside. It'll take me some getting used to having the radio on when I'm leaving the car.

It's really nice...Sometimes when I need to get shopping out of the trunk, the radio keeps playing and then when I'm done I just lock the car (from the door handle or the fob) and everything turns off :=) If you really don't want the radio playing, then just push the start/stop button for a tad longer. |

Sorry if I'm off topic. Can anybody tell me the shutdown procedures for the twin turbo 335d or the 335i coming up,or any other turbos for that matter.I know with heavy trucks after a heavy pull, you need at least 5mins idle time, before shutting off the engine(12.1 to 15 liter block) to prevent shock cooling.
