Know anyone in Luton...?
After a lot of searching I might have found someone willing to swap their folding rear seat for my non-folding rear seat and some cash - they are based in Luton.
Does anyone recommend someone I could pay who knows their way around these things who could meet us and help me swap the seats relatively quickly? Thanks! |

Why don't you remove yours at home, drive up to Luton, swap seats, drive back and fit swapped seats at your own pace??? Simples

Several reasons. First, I have never done this before - and (sorry to be sexist), I'm a woman, and although reasonably handy to compared to some females, I find I often get halfway through some project, have to stop, read a few more things on the internet, and sometimes I still have to sometimes get my husband involved to muscle something off the car that I can't quite manage etc. (fe, I literally could not get the hedgehog pulled out of my e39 and had to wait for my husband to come home from work to do it). Secondly, the guy who I'd be getting the seat from is a little indie dealer, and he already asked if I would pay someone to do the swap, so I imagine he might be reluctant if I turn up and tell him I am going to have a go myself, and although (as you point out), I could practice and learn something at home by removing my own rear (non folding) seat, but still, I won't have had any experience with removing a folding seat, and could still get myself stuck trying to remove the one in his car, and I don't want to be embarrassed, or worry the nice bloke who might swap with me that I'm going to damage something, etc.
I'd just feel better having someone who knows what they are doing, and I am happy to pay someone for the help. I'm just trying to find such a person. |

Maybe I am terrible at DIY (altho I do manage lots of little bits with a good amount of research) - I think of myself as not confident. And I guess, not experienced. That sounds like "terrible" now that I have written it all down.
I hope someone knows someone up here who can help. |

Ah, the guy just rang and it seems he is leaning toward me paying his guy to do it, which he probably feels more comfortable with. That will save me finding someone. I hope he knows what he is doing.

Thank you very much! I do love cars (and driving and racing) but have only started doing some DIY in the last few years.
I've also recently sold my old e39s and an e36 and gotten a little more late-model with an e90, so there is a lot to learn. |
