ECS Tuning buys Turner Motorsports

Looks like two giant BMW houses just merged:

Quote:
ECS Tuning LLC of Wadsworth, an e-commerce platform for European automotive performance parts and accessories, is revving up its distribution capabilities with the acquisition of Turner Motorsport LLC, an Amesbury, Mass.-based e-commerce retailer for BMW parts and accessories.

The addition of Turner Motorsport “will make ECS a premier destination for BMW parts online and will enable both companies to offer a broader selection of high quality engineered solutions and enhancements for the BMW marketplace,” the Wadsworth company said in a news release announcing the purchase.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ECS Tuning says its parts catalog now features more than 1.4 million SKUs for BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Porsche and Volkswagen.

Will Turner, who founded Turner Motorsport in 1993, said in a statement, "I have a lot of ideas for new products and I'm excited that as part of the ECS family, we can bring those to life more quickly and offer an even broader selection of products to BMW owners, enthusiasts and racers."

Turner will remain with ECS as president of the Turner Motorsport Division.

Tom Demrovsky, co-CEO of ECS with Brian Demrovsky, said Turner “shares our passion for European cars, and Turner Motorsport is an excellent addition to the ECS family that allows us to better serve our customers. In addition, we look forward to leveraging our combined R&D efforts to introduce more industry-leading products across all of our vehicle makes."

ECS is owned by private equity firm Bertram Capital, the company founders and management.

Like using both companies but found Turner prices to be consistently lower for most things. Now monopoly?

At least the shipping price at turner was acceptable. Ecs gouges terribly on shipping. It's so bad I hardly order from them. It makes it the same price if I were to go to the dealer. That's what made turner that much better. Love their turner branded products too. Hopefully it doesn't affect turner too much and they let them operate as is. Now ecs just needs a west coast company and they can drop ship out of more warehouses closer to us to decrease their shopping. Hopefully cut it in half at the very least.

Just about any order over $200 ships free from ECS.

I find turner to be more expensive but the upside is anything i order before 12 pm will be at my house the following day.

You should see what shipping is like to Canada.... and than the C.O.D is worth as much as the product! You do have the option to pay everything upfront including duties and all that good stuff through ECS... but lets say I bought brake pads for 90 bucks... the shipping will be like $150.... No Lie...

Turner "use to" price match on pretty much all their parts (who knows what will change now with Expensively Charging Shipping taking over). And order before noon is a great thing, I agree.

Sorry but this is not true. I've ordered over $2500 in parts from them since October including a complete valve cover replacement kit w/ hardware, weathertec mats (which are the epitome of a terrible thing to ship, huge box but extremely light) and factory floor mats, multiple bottles of fluids, and my total shipping charges so far have been $7.25. Further, when my mats got delayed, they split them off so they weren't delaying the rest of my order, waived the $200 minimum so they would still ship free separately when they got them in, and voluntarily sent the rest of my order priority overnight when I called to check the status. I'm not trying to give them an e-reach-around here, my experience with another Big bmw vendor has been equally as good, but some credit where credit is due.

again light and small, try ordering rotors for over $200 or oil/coolant for over $200, they will tell you it doesn't qualify for free shipping, but hey, maybe they like you...and made exceptions for you.
