Damaged FMIC - thoughts on installing anyway?

So this is the 2nd 5" Stepped VRSF intercooler I've gotten in 2 weeks that's damaged out of the box. I sent the 1st one back, because the dent was on the bottom mounting bracket, but this one has a dent in the front bottom, and shouldn't effect the install, but I'm worried it may effect the performance (especially since I can't really test if it's leaking).

I'm ready to send this thing back, get my money back, and buy an ETS or Mishimoto, but don't really have the patience anymore

I'll be attaching pictures in a few minutes, but I'd like to start getting opinions ASAP. Thanks guys!

Got to love that VRSF quality control, lol. I'd send it back and get something different.

If you want a stepped design, get the ATM/Helix. They were the originators for this design on the N54. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1077906
I have one on my car and it outperformed my ETS 5" and my friends VRSF 7".

I really wanted the Helix/ATM FMIC, but I can't really afford the extra dough right now.

I know I'm not the 1st guy with a report of poor packaging on VRSF stuff.

It's probably not quality control, just the good ol carriers of the UPS, Fed-Ex, USPS.

lol at this video

I would agree that it shouldn't be easily damaged though, so it comes down to correct packaging. Unless the UPS guy above is delivering your fragile package.

No way I would accept that. If the ATM/Helix isn't in your budget I'd make them replace that. Was the shipping box damaged? Zero chance I would pay for a new FMIC and accept that.

I'm going to ship this back. And I'll make something happen regardless on the budget. I'd rather pay an extra bit of money now than have something happen down the road with this one, and not be able to return it.

It sucks for VRSF to eat the cost of my 2 FMICs, let alone any others, all due to a couple bucks in shipping supplies.

Yeah I shot him an email yesterday early afternoon, but he hasn't responded, although he's probably pretty busy and it was a Friday afternoon.

Update: Tiago emailed me directly, and is resolving the situation, pretty well I may add.

I'll update this thread when it arrives. Hopefully here on out VRSF ships these suckers out with better packaging!

The first one had some obvious creases where things were stacked on top of it, but no holes, etc.

The second one was about the same, maybe a bit better condition. It seems like it's the integrity of the boxes that kills them in shipping.

Well hopefully the shipping department steps up a bit, and this won't be a concern anymore for people. Tiago seems to be pretty concerned that it happened twice, and from a business image standpoint, I'm sure he will square it away

Bent fins are no problem but that's too much.

I had an issue a while back with the outlet side being bent slightly, luckily it was just on the lip and the charge side hook up was way over it. Good luck.

Some FedEx drivers are gentle with packages, others will do their best to test our packaging. This certainly has nothing to do with our quality control, the product is being damaged during shipping and we RARELY ever encounter a damaged product in shipping.

We offered the customer a replacement at our cost last time and we'll be happy to do so again. We spent extra time/materials on packing the second unit and we'll be sure to use even more on the third.

Thanks for chiming in Tiago, if the next one is damaged, we can setup a conference call with someone at FedEx loss/damage prevention
