Thumbs up From stock to not. Picture build thread - VERY picture heavy! (UPDATE 11-20-15 -pg3)

OK guys. I had a thread on here before, but it was all disorganized and half the pictures had their links broken.

So, here is my second attempt to put my car from stock, to not - in chronological order. This is really mainly for myself, so I have all of my memories, modifications and whatnot in one location I can revert back to. However, I gracefully invite you to see the progression of 2+ years and God only knows how much money.

If you're going to say "Bro, you could have just bought an M3." I know. Trust me, do I know. But...

Prelude:

I purchased the car back in March, 2013. It was suppose to be stock and a 'young adult' car, moving up from my previously owned Honda Prelude. It was going to be my daily driver. Drive into offices for meetings, look the professional part and scoot on off. Well, like any drug addiction, it just takes that first hit to get hooked. In this case, the BBS wheels.

Here she is. Bone stock, a virgin - who will soon be touched for the very first time:

First off, the wheels:

Then, I wanted to add a little boom in the trunk:

Of course, lighting was covered as well:

The first things I really modified post the wheels were suspension. I knew going in the differences between a 328 and 335 so I focused on the suspension to beef it up and give it a go-cart like feel (which my previous modified Honda's had)

Some Dinan toys (this is the same time I lowered it and put the sways on, no pictures of that for some odd reason):

My chop shop efforts turned out pretty decent!

Then, the carbon fiber bug kicked in and I had to revamp the interior a bit - since hell, this is where I spend most of my time with the car:

Shout out to roll_the_dice for the carbon fiber goodies!

Decided to wrap a few things here and there, split armrest for starters:

I could not forget about some LED's for the interior - got a huge kit, took an hour or two so convert. Very nice:

But wait, that steering wheel was just so out of place. Yup, time to change that, too!

But wait, I had to justify a window tint to protect that pretty carbon fiber, my buddy helping out tinting the windows:

Just when I thought suspension was done, I found and discovered the amazing benefits of SOLID bushings. Muahahahaha!:

Look at this beautiful grab bag!:

Did I mention my love for carbon fiber? Mirror covers, diffuser, sideskirt extensions, oh - yes, yes!:

I did go a little overboard for a moment. I purchased a carbon fiber hood, but really, I could not rock it - I just couldn't hide that beautiful MB colorway!:

Ugh, ugly OEM tail lights on pre-LCI. We had to do something about that:

Hell, let's wrap the roof! Shoutout to Sir Wraps A Lot for a fantastic job!:

View post on imgur.com

Happy with the look of the car, it was time to revert to performance. Having the car over a year now, I was much more educated in options in the aftermarket. So, I jumped over to AFE for their high flow headers, these are gorgeous:

Installed:

More flow? Sure, let's kill those secondary cats (not my picture):

Ah, the flattering feeling:

Happy with the exhaust modifications, it was dyno day - not too shabby for where it was at this point:

Then, I had myself a little photoshoot - shoutout to David New for the awesome pictures:

Just when I thought I was done, I realized - what's modified exhaust without an intake!? 330 3 stage intake manifold and AA tune - you guys rock!

While under the hood, I figured to add a little add-on my friends 335 E90 had - leaf catchers! The details, man - the details!

Again, thinking I was done, I needed more solid. More noise. More vibration. High performance trans mounts and solid motor mounts for the WIN!:

Installed:

The most recent addition, BMW performance brakes - what's added power with these wimpy 328 calipers and rotors!?: Shout out to GetBMWParts - you guys are AWESOME!

Getting annoyed with bright white halo's and wanting to blend my steering wheel and calipers together, I opted for some amber halo lights. E92-Lighting hooked it up and these things look great!

Small casualty - this is what, my 3rd splitter? I can't seem to keep these longer than a few months. Going to wait until it cools down and install this custom one I got from a fellow board member:

And here's how she sat at last weekends benefit car show, far, far from her original form:

Here are the mods I remember off hand - honestly, I can't keep track:

2009 328i - Sport Package
330 Intake Manifold w/ AA Tune
AFE Headers (high flow cats)
Dinan Ram intake/Cat back exhaust
H&R sport springs
Koni Yellow
Eibach anti sway
M3 control arms
Turner solid aluminum diff and sub frame bushings
LCI tails
BMW performance spoiler
M tech rear bumper with carbon diffuser
Aero front lip
CF fron splitter
CF side skirt extensions on M rep skits
RPI intake scoops
BMW Performance Brakes
BMW Performance Streering wheel

Now, random photographs I have saved. I'll update and add more when I'm on my other computer, I know I'm missing a ton. But, this should be good enough for now.

Hope you guys enjoyed. Criticism, comments, questions - all welcomed.

Ha! I realized that after I linked all the pictures. I was hoping Imgur would adjust them - at least I thought I hit that option. Oh well. Long live high resolution LCD monitors and high speed broadband

Question for you. The yellow fog bulbs you got, are they enough on their own or is that yellow overlay needed to enhance to color?

Very much well enough on their own. I had yellow covers before switching to them. I could not even notice a difference after removing the wraps.

Could be one of the nicest 328's out there. Is it alot faster than stock? Everyone knows what can be done with a 335 but how well does your performance mods do on the 328?

Thank you for the kind words. Honestly. It's very noticeable. I would never claim it is fast. However, that said with intake manifold and tune I should be near 240/250whp. Coming from what - 170/180whp it's a dramatic difference. The low end and responsiveness make daily driving and spirited driving a night and day compression.

The added suspension and brakes make turns and corners drivable with much confidence and enjoyability.

Good job OP, not many NA owners out there go the full length.
Similarly, I have intake, headers, 2ndary delete, remus exhaust, custom tune.
For handling I have KW coilovers, youre tempting me to get stray/strut bars, and the performance brakes now..
Once again, props to you my fellow NA !

Thank you for the compliments! I would look more into the brakes before anything else. I can not articulate how much more confidence you feel driving knowing you have a larger rotor, more aggressive pads and the 6 piston calipers. Plus, they look unbelievable in person. GetBMWParts has the kit for the cheapest price I've seen - plus, their shipping is faster than a meth addict.

I've actually been debating switching to coils, but *shrug* No practical reason - yet.

Funny story - one of my biggest clients is a fresh off the boat German - with a nice 5 series. We actually chatted for an hour about BMW's and cars in general - I honestly think it helped me secure a long term contract. I had to get a Nissian Frontier DD truck though - just for those rainy or snowy days

Thank you! C'mon! Barrett meets on Friday in Kennesaw. I think they have a BMW meet near Cumberland Mall Friday's around 8PM as well.
