Engine Overheating!!!!!!
Driving to work on Labor Day bc trains were operating on a weekend schedule. Get about 1.5 miles from work and I get yellow engine heat warning sign. Tried to make it to the garage and bam hit with the red warning! Rolled into garage. I checked coolant and it was at a good level. Letting the car sit for a few hours and may try to drive the 8 miles home. Prolly not a great idea. I will see if fan comes on and I get a yellow warning. Then I will pull over and get towed home.

When my waterpump died I cut the car off at the yellow warning light and let it sit for 3-4. When I started it back up apparently the pump started working again because the fan wasn't losing its mind so was able to limp the car home 4 miles away. If you start it up and the fan isnt on max, you may be able to make it home.

Hmm... Towing a car home or buying a new motor after driving with a blown water pump?
Sounds like an extremely difficult choice... |

Nope, water pump usually does not give any warning. Mine would die, but work after restarting the car. I got home and replaced the water pump + cleared all those pump failure codes. Do a thermostat while you are at it too, as it is same job twice if it fails later.
