Help! Blank CIC screen
My iDrive stopped working out of no where. I checked every fuse; I know it has power (I can eject the dvd) but I get nothing on the screen. Radio also does not work nor does PDC.
Any ideas where to look?

I haven't had these issues before but have you tried the reset method of Holding the volume/mute knob for 15 - 25 seconds?
With that being said it may seem like your headunit is going and not an issue with the display.

I'm having a similar issue with mine and I'm investigating the possibility that my TCU (Telematics Control Unit) is malfunctioning. Ordered a MOST bypass loop to test it and it should be here Friday or Monday. I'll let you know what I find.

In my case the issue was a poor fiber optic connection at the back of the head unit. If you want to check it yourself, there is a two-wire connector with two green wires in it (one has a ribbed plastic cover). Make sure those are good and the receiving end (on the back of the head unit) is good too.

I'm not sure exactly what happened but it's working now. I was getting a low battery alert when I would start the car. After a long drive the battery charged and the navi started working again. Could a low battery cause this?

Rotary Rasp,
Yes absolutely! The MOST fiber optic network that serves the navigation system and other electronics is very voltage sensitive and I've read of a few cases where low battery caused issues with iDrive I recommend you charge your battery over night or go for a long drive. I'm willing to bet that after a good charge this problem will disappear for good. All the best. |
