thermostat hose troubles

Anyone else had their butts kicked by the large clip on type hose at the front of the thermostat. It was a pain to pull off, but I cant seem to get the SOB to go back on. Tried oiling up the o-ring, tried installing with the clip up and down, and it just wont seat all the way. Doesn't help that there is like 0 room to get my hands on it to push.

How did you guys get this hose back on?

Are you sure you have the correct replacement hose? Did you compare the old part with the new part side by side?

With some Vaseline and brute force. The clip is not the problem. It's in the O-ring.

Yeah I finally got it. It was the stock hose, not a new one. Literally just replaced the pump to get the car back on the road.

I ended up having to slide all the way under the car, so I could pull the hose toward me instead of trying to push from the front. Finally felt it pop into place.
