Updated Software Version 29.00.01
So i took my car in yesterday to get my low MPG checked and a squeak at the rear when pulling off at low speeds. Got a call in the afternoon and said they couldn't duplicate any problems and that my car was fine, So they said I could come and test drive with a foreman Tech if I wanted to. So I went this morning, The Tech was really cool, he sits down on the passenger seat and inmediately discovers the reason for another rattle I had on the passenger's seat when someone seating on it, note that I didn't even take my car in for this issue, new seat assembly/rail ordered. Then explains me the real reason for the squeak at the rear brakes when pulling off, previous foreman just had them install new pads and rotors and noise came back a month after, this one knew the real reason, no wonder why previous foreman got fired. And to top it off, I said what's up with my MPG, he said well, everything seems fine, I said you think I should get my software updated? My car is a May 07' build, no previous updtates so I don't know which one I had, and he said well if you want your software updated I could duplicate a problem for you and we'll just have to keep your car for half a day more... he even mentioned how procede V.2 is so fast and subtly said "we really can't tell if you use it" . So I didn't even know Ver. 29.00.01 was out yet!! I was surprised when I read my service order and it states that my car was programmed with Ver. 29.00.01, sorry for the long story and I don't know much about the software but the car feels completely different!! Like a reborn champ, my power is back, gear changes are smoother, no more sticky brakes and MPG seemed to have improved, have to wait and see for that one, worth it though!! I'm really satisfied now

It's probably my perception, but whaterever it is it feels much better than before, no more jerky gear changes. I was thinking about getting my oil changed, but i have 7300 miles only and the Tech kind of explain why I really don't need yet, besides its $140.00 so still undecided...

When did v29 come out? I just got my car updated on Wednesday last week but the paperwork doesn't indicate what went in it.

It apparently does cause when i went to complain about my transmission and bad shifting which results in very unsmooth acceleration, they gave me a software upgrade too.

OP: What was the reproducible issue that the tech showed you that allowed you to get the s/w update?? |

If i brought the car in just for the sticky brake problem alone, would the dealership give me the software update? Or would it have to be over a bigger issue?
After about 5 months of driving my e90 335i ive finally grown tired of it... |

You can't... other than pre-25 and 25-up (in general) there's really no way to know without having a dealer hook up the car to a diagnostic computer.

Anyhow, before the upgrade I would very rarely get the jerkiness/sudden acceleration many people complain about when taking off from a stop on my E93 with auto tranny, but it hasn't happened since the upgrade. I also noticed that my A/C's recirculation mode is always reset to off after restarting the car ever since the upgrade, while it would stay where it was when the car was turned off prior to the upgrade. This I'm not really happy about, but no big deal. It did however fix the iPod issue I had which was the reason for getting the upgrade. My iPod would sometimes restart playing from the first song in the entire library when the car was restarted as opposed to playing from where it left off. And of course scrolling through the iPod menu is much easier now. One big thing I noticed recently is that prior to the upgrade I was getting about 16 MPG and lately it's been saying 18+ MPG and I've been driving the same way and the same routes so I hope it really has improved, but could the software upgrade really have caused this. I'm at about 11,500 miles so maybe that has somthing to do with the increase in mileage. I've read that these car's mileage increases at about the 12K mark. |
